Sens. Mike Lee and Susan Collins will support the Republican tax plan, they said Monday, solidifying Republican hopes to pass a bill to overhaul the American tax code this week.
The commitments from Lee and Collins of Utah and Maine, respectively leave only one GOP senator publicly undeclared on the bill: Jeff Flake of Arizona.

Frickin’ Arizona.
Prime Time Address to the people. Announce its done. Ask for the support of the 12 demoncats up for re-election next year. Tell the American people to take note. Bring the pulpit to bear.
Bit I thought I heard McCain will.be absent and possibly one other Republican senator? Could be a razor thin vote.
Mike Pence may well be needed to cast the tie breaking vote in the Senate. Stay tuned.
Flake should be a yes, Rubio got the Treasury checks for illegal aliens put back in.
All I can say is, good luck.
I haven’t been particularly impressed with Congress’ ability to do the right thing this year.
The judicial nominations were the one bright spot, but I hear there are two Trump appointees right now, that the Republican leadership is refusing to approve of.
I suspect we may be headed for trouble on more than those two also.
Remember, these cupcakes voted for Obama’s appointees. Two of them were disgusting.
Mike Lee has turned out to be an absolute fraud. He ran as Tea Party backer like the other fraud Ayotte.
The question now is will Corker force sick McCain to fly back to DC?
If true, it seems that the establishment is finally getting the message that we are REALLY running out of patience with them.
“The question now is will Corker force sick McCain to fly back to DC?”
Corker has said he’s a YES!
If a Senator is ill and can’t be present for the vote, is there a provision which would allow the senator to vote in advance?
I don:t know the answer which is why I ask
He was waffling this morning after #CorkerKickback started trending on twitter.
No, there is not...however, it is the most likely reason Corker is now going to support the bill.
So if McCain and Cochran are both absent there are 50 votes unless Flake decides to change his mind in the opposite direction, then it would be 49-49...I assume that Pence could cast a tie breaker in that case but am not sure since that is a tie caused by absent Senators and not a tie of a total vote of the Senate. Otherwise, if Flake remains on board then it would be 50-48 and it passes outright.
whens the vote
I hope that votes like this show that GOPe are needed at times.
I don’t think there is such a provision, but not 100% sure.
I do know, that sometimes we hear the votes for and against a certain bill, and we can tell that a few members didn’t vote, presumeably because they were absent.
I know the Democrats were agitating for them to seat Democrat Doug Jones from Alabama before voting on this bill. While he’s a senator elect, he hasn’t been sworn into the Senate yet. There’s a whole legal process involving certifying his election which the state of Alabama has to go through, which hasn’t been completed yet.
I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with Susan Collins. The bill is flawed, but it’s much better than what we have — and it’s essential to moving the country forward.
This bill must be really stinky if all those uniparty rinos are for it.
See the quote from the President in the following. Don’t pay attention to the headline. Looks like the bill will pass and has extra assurance.
