President Trump has long denied claims by several women who say he sexually harassed or assaulted them, but those denials are wearing thin in the eyes of the news media now that similar accusations have ended careers of several high-profile men in politics.
Liberal feminist writer Lindy West wrote Wednesday in the New York Times that it is time for everyone to plainly accept that, Yes, President Donald Trump has sexually harassed women.
I am so tired of participating in the collective national farce that things happening right in front of our eyes might not really be happening, she wrote. That we do not already know the truth about what our president and the nation he rules think about women. We know. Anyone who says he doesnt know is lying.
Nowhere in Wests piece is it mentioned that Trump has repeatedly refuted his accusers.
Likewise, Times columnist Gail Collins wrote Wednesday that its time to focus on the Donald Trump sleaziness sagas that the nation didnt deal with in 2016.
After Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., announced he will soon resign amid sexual misconduct allegations last week, Robert Kuttner, co-founder and editor of the left-leaning American Prospect magazine, wrote that instead of turning on one of their own, Democrats and feminists and all decent people should be intensifying the pressure for a full investigation into Trump, who Kuttner referred to as Groper-in-Chief.
In addition to Franken, Democratic Rep. John Conyers and Republican Reps. Blake Farenthold and Trent Franks have also announced their resignations in recent weeks, after facing claims of inappropriate sexual behavior.
Though Franken in his resignation announcement denied he had done anything wrong, he still said he intended to leave his seat.
Trump was accused by multiple women ahead of the 2016 election but denied all of the allegations and went on to win the race, even winning white women voters by 10 points over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
As other figures have had to face their own accusers, and as Trumps accusers have resurfaced in public to retell their stories, Democrats have renewed their criticism targeting Trump, even calling on him to resign. Some in the media have said the same.
[I]ts not that we didnt hear Trumps accusers, or even that we didnt believe them, New Yorker writer Jia Tolentino said last month. We knew that they werent lying, and we elected him anyway. Our response when victims speak up now has to be shaped by the magnitude of that failure.
New York magazine's Margaret Hartmann asked in November (with an updated version of the article on Dec. 12), What happened to the 19 women who accused Trump of sexual misconduct?
The story noted the dozens of other famous men accused of sexual impropriety and said that in light of those, the allegations against Trump seem grossly overlooked.
Better put some ice on it.
Everybody lies about sex.
All of these women are from a time when they thought Trump was a wealthy Democrat. When he became a Republican, they turned on him.
BUMP...what YOU Posted!!! Hear hear!
& they were right! They just got the party wrong (only a minor detail...)
I think that I would change the narrative to sexual conduct. It’s acknowledged by Trump that he has lived a pretty hedonistic lifestyle when he was younger and that upon realizing that it was wrong and that the diseases he would encounter would kill him, he decided to stop living that lifestyle.
Given that (and I reject that lifestyle) I do believe that Trump was ever the gentleman and any activity he engaged in was completely consensual, thus, no harassment or misconduct.
When will the msm call Hellary out for her sexual misconduct and shame her into hiding for ogling Christina Aguilera’s boobs?
Future Trump accuser: “He oogled my cleavage as we rode up the elevator — I never felt so violated.”
What we are revealing is the Sinful Nature of men and women. We have ALL fallen short of the Glory of God. Let those without Sin cast the first stone. True today as always. This is not News!
I agree. However, I’ll throw this out: It was probably consensual because he is rich and powerful, just as a starkly beautiful woman may be able to get men who would otherwise be faithful to cheat on their wife - at least once...
Women are angry at him that he can get women to say yes just because he’s powerful. :)
Their anger is misplaced.
This is the same media that said Clinton committed no sexual misconduct despite accusations from several women — including one who claimed rape. The media has no credibility except among themselves.
Does anyone remember the phrase “...doesn’t rise to an impeachable offense...”. The precedent has already been set BY THE DEMOCRATS, and now they have to live with it.
I played in many Rock Bands and have been in plenty of Dressing Rooms and on Tour Buses with real rock stars during the 80’s. The term “Gig Pigs” was coined by Extreme drummer Paul Geary. The line of girls never seemed to end. And they were just as bad as the guys. Some were worse. I saw a Biker just shake his head and walk away when a certain girl came out of the head on a bus at the Fleet Center in Boston. Sure there are plenty of rotten bosses out there. But not every woman is Little Bo Peep.
That would be my observation.
He won anyway. But the media now thinks they can overturn his election over these allegations.
To the best of my memory ....
1) As I recall, the woman who said DJT sexually assaulted her in a First Class seat while a male passenger saw the entire assault but did nothing, didn't count on that anonymous man irately coming forward to call her a liar and say no such assault occurred, (but she could of course count on the MSM to ignore the inconvenient Debunker).
2) And the former Apprentice contestant who claimed assault in a hotel room? I seem to recall her cousin a few days later expressing wonderment at her story, because she had only given her family the most glowing reviews of DJT during - and long after - her Apprentice stint. But later when she tried cashing in on her 15 min of fame by opening a restaurant in her name, and DJT declined the invite to fly out for opening weekend to generate the media buzz that could have possibly made it a financial success, she turned on him, calling him a back stabber & traitor. But still her family heard nothing about any assault, until they saw her up there at the Presser.
3) The photo journalist's assault accusation was a self-debunking Nothing Burger when reading the details: While at a Mar-a-Lago celebrity fundraiser, leaning over to snap a poolside shot, she felt something bump her protruding butt, yet didn't turn around to see, because she thought it was the camera bags of a female colleague. By the time she'd framed and shot her photos & stood up & turned around, there was nobody there. The nearest was a small group that included Regis Philbin & DJT among others, and from merely this she concluded it had to be DJT who bumped her butt. And now, 6 yrs later, she was first confiding her story, to the best of her year's-old recollection.
I didn't look into the others, but wouldn't be surprised if they're like the rest.
Is there a website with a collection of these debunkings? Wikipedia is of little help, focusing mostly on the accusers' stories and ignoring the debunkers.
Lisa West: We know. Anyone who says he doesnt know is lying.
Shes suffering a case of delusions of grandeur. Gets an F on her persuasion skills.
Oh and before I get started. I'm not at all saying this does not happen. I'm only saying that when there is no evidence and years have gone by the allegation is baseless and thus should be ignored. We as a society have a presumption of innocence which dictates we ignore baseless claims. With that out of the way, here is my prediction.
The continuing barrage of sexual harassment claims are going to literally destroy the opportunities for women in the workplace. Bottom line, when a women can simply accuse a man and with no evidence whatsoever destroy his livelihood and his life, men will naturally take steps to protect themselves from this threat. What does this mean? It means men will STOP hiring women and putting them in positions of influence. Equal opportunity for women in the workplace is going to take a huge step backwards. The Liberal left originally started and promoted the women's movement and in classic fashion they themselves will destroy it.
Maybe now somebody will spill the beans, with proof, about Hussein and Reggie.
Reminds me of the old joke “I get slapped a lot but I get a lot, too”.
There’s Miss North Carolina who said Trump looked her up and down while she was “naked under her robe”. She said she didn’t sign up for a beauty pageant to be olgled. Really?
