Thanks Enchante.
over two months after the movie honcho was first publicly accused of sexual misconduct in a New York Times piece...
...another entertainment industry nitwit decided to time her announcement to coincide with some nitwit project she's part of.

it was unimaginable for a Mexican actress to aspire to a place in Hollywood
This would be news to Raquel Welch

Salma Hayek is a lovely and talented woman. Weinstein’s treatment of her was appalling. He makes pigs look bad.

Oh, please. She’s no victim. She used him as much as he used her. There are dozens of photos of her with him where she is smiling away.

She’s fortunate I wasn’t there. It could have been devastating!

“This would be news to Raquel Welch”
Yes. Welch is not Mexican, but it makes the same point.
I’d go back even farther to Delores del Rio and Lupe Vasquez who were Mexican and big Hollywood stars.
There were a lot of Hispanic movies stars going way back.

He asked everyone in the room to step out except for me. He told me that the only thing I had going for me was my sex appeal and that there was none of that in this movie [”Frida”]. So he told me he was going to shut down the film because no one would want to see me in that role.
Well, he has some points....
She did win an Oscar for her role.
Probably largely due to Weinstein’s clout.

Exactly. Her precious career mattered more until it became “safe” to speak out.
