Moore got about half the votes Trump had gotten.
Moore would not have been in the run-off if the Republican establishment had not excoriated Mo Brooks. Mo would have won the general. The Republican establishment knew it and destroyed him. The Alabama electorate was so opposed to Strange that they elected Moore.
We have only the RNC to blame, not Judge Moore.
1. Lying women and baseless accusations.
2. Stupid people who dont think past headlines.
I had hoped that Moore would win, and really thought that he would win. But, after thinking about it, and seeing how close it was, I don’t think the dems have much to crow about. Obviously, Moore was not as popular in Alabama as I thought he was, particularly after being carpet bombed with sexual allegations for the last 6 weeks. You can add to that all the time, effort and MONEY spent by McConnell and others against him in the primaries, reportedly close to $30 MILLION. Plus, the dems poured in MILLIONS more into the Jones campaign. I’ve also heard that Moore neglected to “press the flesh” over the last several weeks, allowing Jones to out campaign him. Hillary Clinton learned the hard way that running a lazy, entitled campaign, doesn’t work, and I think Moore might have fallen into that same kind of trap.
Jones will have to run again in 2 years, and IF the gop runs a good candidate, Jones will be history.
If Moore had won, he would have been the subject of non-stop attacks in the media and in the Senate, and would have become a huge distraction. Maybe it’s for the best that he lost, but since he won the primary, there was really not enough time for another candidate to step in and be seen as legitimate.
When you have both parties and the Ministry of Propaganda against you, it’s an uphill fight in deep snow wearing flip-flops.
There are no unlosable races. Anybody thinking they have an unlosable race will lose.
Outspent 10:1.
Concentrated assault by the media.
Concentrated assault by the Democrats across the country.
Concentrated assault by Hollywood.
Concentrated assault by GOP.
Manufactured stories sent incessantly to the media with no apparent foundation in truth.
And the candidate lost by a percentage point or two?
I don’t know how that could have happened. Alabama voters should be ashamed. I expect this crap in my state, not from Alabama.
The typical Republican voter is pathetic and has an attention span of a gnat. I have such disdain for those who “stay home” or “protest vote” knowing FULL well how important this seat is in the grand scope. The political party system is a joke. The GOP is a disgrace.
Little did the good folks in Alabama know they'd been electing a worthless, ineffective, little tick turd all those years. His “tour of duty” as AG is a lesson in somnambulism taken to the extreme.
Democrats get paid to go vote. Republicans have to vote out of a sense of civic duty.
“Republicans stayed home.”
And their candidate got bashed by the Republican establishment.
Do not presume that all of Trump’s votes came from Republicans.
The election was not “unlosable.” In fact, Alabama does not have a great track record when it comes to electing conservative solons. Time and time again during the 20th century, Alabama voters dutifully re-elected John Sparkman and Lister Hill, both liberal Democrats, to the Senate. And one might recall another “unlosable” election in 1986 when Jeremiah Denton, a Vietnam War hero with a solid conservative voting record, lost to Richard Shelby, then a Democrat.
92 % voter turnout for Jones just doesn’t sound right.
Its not he who votes that counts, but he who counts the votes! - Joseph Stalin
Voter fraud. The Dems had lots of money to pay voters.
For later
He lost because he was a Flawed Candidate to begin before the women accusers came out. After those women came out he was a Toxic candidate regardless of the truth
The governor could have waited until 2018 to call the election and maybe should have. I am amazed at hoe close the election was, those write in votes cost Moore the election.
Trump though was right in the beginning when he backed Luther Strange and he could have won.
I thought the Democrat party had all the mind numbed robots.
It appears that there may be plenty in the Republican Party as they do not see the big picture. They can be led by a 40 year old claims/gossip that a few deem as the new rules in order to oust some.
Blame the loss on the other Al senator.

Lots of folks rationalizing that their failure to donate to Moore’s campaign had nothing to do with the outcome.....the Left went all-in and the GOPe/RINOs stayed out of it until too late and did too little 9tokens so they could claim they did something) and the People who wanted Moore decided someone else could donate. On stat had Moore being outspent 14:1 for a period.
