Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

NYT back in tossup .. Jones only up 1.8%
At this point that is Moore’s only chance, that the heavy dem precincts in the dem cities have been counted and others are giving Moore a higher number of votes.
Looks like the dems are going to hold Montgomery until the very end and see what they need
Not a chance that Jones will ever cross the aisle for any votes
Dallas County holding back. Something is up there.
PermaRag , yeah, you sound like it.
Oh please, the RATs now know how to depress conservative vote?
Accuse the conservative candidate of being a sexual predator.
Jones will win by approximately 20K - 25K votes if everything holds firm in terms of where Jones is performing in Jefferson and Montgomery and Mobile trends to the 2016 - 10% average that is carrying across the state.
If the cities don’t tighten it’s over.
this was an all out deep state push for Jones because McConnell and the deep state wanted to show Bannon and Trump that they still have power.
Bad news for the country and for Alabama. Wait until this leftists scum is senator and votes like he’s representing San Francisco.
I think Jones will be out the next election cycle.
Why not just pray to Jesus. After all, all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him.
Who knows? They may be right. The media has access to more info than you or me.
1.7%
I really want to believe you.
Romney is the GOPe poster boi. No conservative.
I like Roy Moore a lot. I always have. I think he would make a fine Senator. I would like to see a dozen just like him in the Senate.
But, tonight he's going down in flames.
Alabama has several true conservatives who could win, with or without the establishment's help. Moore ain't one of them.
And that's too bad.
Fox has been stirring up $&(# against Moore the entire time-—going way out on the ledge. Then some of the blond bimbos act puzzled over the tight race. Makes me sick.
Please God give us Roy-God, Guns, Constitution
Jones just might win by that percent!
This is Alabama, not Philadelphia. The vote count should be fair.
Yup. You are witnessing the Democrat strategy for the next decade.
Can’t spare 10 bucks to contribute, but you can endlessly take up space.
Joneses advantage over Moore according to NYT prediction, is the lowest I’ve seen it in an hour. It was +6% at one time, and is now down to +1.7%. Yeah!
Decision Desk says Jefferson has tightened to 70/30. That adds another 15K to Moore. Still looks like a 10K-15K Jones win.
Decision Desk says Jones is now in the lead.
