Those are good insights.
At least Christie can boast that he is smarter than Wolf Blitzer. Blitzer’s Jeopardy performance was excreble.
I will take “Just plain Stupid “ for a thousand Alex.
My grandmother was 13 when she married my 21 year old grandfather in rural southwest Arkansas. That was in 1942, and he was drafted into the US Army a few months later. He returned home a decorated combat veteran and former POW in 1945. They remained married until his death at a young age of 52.
Several Alabamians on the radio today....2 were mid teens dating 30+ men. The 3rd’s mother married at 13 and had 2 kids by 15. ..”.many mothers would have been thrilled that their teenager daughter had a prominent 30 yr old district attorney hitting on their daughter” (paraphrased)
I’m 76 years old! Will celebrate our 59th Wedding Anniversary in February!.. married at 17 years old!
My mom was 16 years old and when she died at 86 she and my father had celebrated their 70th Anniversary of marriage!!!
A bit of triva....it is said that Mary the Mother of Jesus was a very young girl around 16 years old!!!!
Chris Matthews needs to get a life!
My ggm married at 13 to an 20 year old. Had 9 kids. 3 of the brothers were highly decorated ww2 vets. Godly woman and a legend in town. The women all married decorated vets one of which was a tail gunner who flew 27 missions. The family get togethers a were amazing. She lived to 92.
I guess her hundred or more defendants are all upset about ggp being a rapist. /s
oops thats descendants
Mary was about 15 years old when she married Joseph, who is considered to have been much older.
My maternal grandmother married a widower, a few of whose kids from his 1st marriage were close to her age.
No one will mention how close in age Monica Lewinsky is to Chelsea Clinton. Bill Clinton graduated from Yale law school, following his Oxford foray, a few months before Monica was born. But no judgment there!
They ... on the other side of truth that use anything they can to persuade ... their argument is always political, so truth is not in them, just get what they want by any means.
It’s just the Washington elite or New Yorkers, who could think that situation was not normal, and force their views on southern folks.. all to take out and destroy lives.
Some ears don’t get completely husked even when harvested by modern equipment. Seed corn is harvested wet enough so that the kernels stay attached to the ear better during the rough and tumble harvest, and processing. To get dried down evenly the ears finally pass by workers that make sure all husks are removed. Maybe years ago folks squatted next to corn piles, picking through, looking for ears that needed husks removed. I know my knees wouldn’t want to squat for very long. Anyway, that’s my speculation on the matter vaguely brought up.
I will admit that it is weird and gross for a 30 year old to be hitting on or pursuing teenage girls even if it wasn’t illegal or even frowned upon at the time in Alabama.
What really gets me though is how the left gives muslims a pass on everything they believe in and do. If they force their women to cover up, preach death for homosexuals, have forced marriages of young girls, etc.... leftists say “It’s just their culture over there.” and then they advocate bringing those people over here by the boatload. But if Roy Moore hit on younger girls 40 years ago in Alabama, it is the end of the world.
Thanks! I was 18 when I married my husband who was 44 at the time.
And my great grandmother Dorothy Hicks was thirteen when she married her first husband in North Platte, Nebraska back in 1910. He was twenty-eight.
Thanks for the explanation. I don’t mind husking some corn, but not every day, all day!
I worked for a family owned seed production company, as the “farmer”, mostly; working the ground, planting, detassling corn (mechanically), and harvesting. I did help once in the husking room. They stand the whole time, pulling off husks that the mechanical husking bed missed, and watching for rogue ears. Glad it was only once.
Also, the 90 yr old woman was probably husking sweet corn out by the corn patch.

If I’m given to live 90 years, I’d consider myself blessed just to be able to eat corn while sitting in a La-Z-Boy. But I’ve shucked more than a few cobs in my day.
