The Shaver case is well beyond politics. There is nothing conservative, liberal or constitutional about an agent of the state killing an American without just cause. It is deeply wrong regardless of party or ideology. Bernie Sanders voters and the most ardent Trump supporters all should be united in outrage over the death of Daniel Shaver.
Maricopa County District Attorney Bill Montgomery got it right by charging Brailsford with second degree murder. The jury got it very wrong. Shaver should be alive, and his death must be taken as a call to action. Police departments should establish that a suspect always has the ability to show hands and lie down on the ground for arrest. Complicated law enforcement commands that require mobility and balance under threat of execution cannot be an acceptable standard.
When good faith efforts to respond to police commands can be met with a hail of bullets, we are all in jeopardy, and the work of all law enforcement officers becomes more difficult and dangerous.

That’s idiotic and poor tactics. He had the guy prone doubt Hands Extended face down on the floor. They had absolute control over him and six cops in the hallway it would have been easy to cut him and get him out of there. Instead they wanted him to crawl on his knees with his ankles crossed in his underwear
Why? Because the idiot cops were making him crawl in a way that made his pants and underwear fall off exposing his nakedness, and he reached down like any normal person would to grab his pants he was shot 5 times by a coward who could easily see his pants are falling off
I agree, he was a total asshole anyone watching the video can see what an arrogant piece of shit he was.
Reasonable assumption. I hadn’t thought of that.
“Why are we supposed to have Trust and Faith in the Police again, I forgot??”
I lost it years ago. They’ll never get it back.
Cops are the worst criminals.
[[Thats idiotic and poor tactics.]][
No sir it isn’t idiotic- the cop asked several times if anyone was in the room they came out of- He3 had no way of knowing whether they lied or not-cops die by not taking as many precautio0ns in tense situations as possible-
[[Instead they wanted him to crawl on his knees with his ankles crossed in his underwear]]
The underwear isn’t an issue- the ankles however the cop didn’t say anything to him when he uncrossed them just as he didn’t when the girlfriend uncrossed them- it was only when hte4 fella reached back quickly that it got ugly-
[[Making up facts to support your blind support of Stasi-cops.]]
Wow- I’ll let hour comments speak for themselves- look the stats up yourself or don’t i don’t care- Cops are killed all the time by people they didn’t see with guns untu it was too late-
Stasi-cops- Cripes!
If this sort of thing continues, cops will not be safe in their own homes.
The people will rise up against them.
Sure, that’s a lot of bad-ass cops that think they can take on the world.
Until they realize some of the world has military training that equals or bests their own. Random, faceless people who can hit 100% of the time from 500 yds or more.
They are servants that must learn humility. If they can’t handle the job without “mistakes” like in this video, they need to find another line of work.
What does this murdering cop have to do with the progressive left?
He is an AGENT of the progressive left. But some folks would have us believe the only thing that stands between we the people and the “progressive left” is that thin blue line.
Hogwash. They are agents of the state. They are not servants of the people.
Just know one day the American people will have enough of this and start hunting cops.
not thqaT this cop ran afoul of the law- but to answer your firsgt point and third point
[[Good cop, bad cop: Statistics show less than 1 percent of police officers run afoul of the law
less than 1%- so how many ‘bad ass’ cops are therre
[[Sure, thats a lot of bad-ass cops that think they can take on the world.]]
Really?
[[Moreover, there’s no evidence that trigger-happy police use more deadly force because they’re itching to try their new fire power. The number of annual police killings from 2005 to 2012 remained stable at about 400. Nearly all the tragic, well-publicized incidents of young black males dying at the hands of white cops occur when officers are isolated and vulnerable; none of the controversial recent shootings involved military style deployments with hordes of police in riot gear. Less than a quarter of all police uses of deadly force involved white officers firing at black suspects; in fact, a black male is 60 times more likely to die at the hands of another black male than to perish through actions of a white cop.
And that is from a liberal rag
Look- you’re evidently convinced that cops just love shooting innocent people for no good reason- nothing i post will be likely to change that apparently- but realize this- a great many people’s lives are saved day in and day out by selfless cops who run into dangerous situations where noone else would - they run into highly charged situations, and have to face split second decisions day in and day out-
This country is becoming far more dangerous with gangs, islamic threats, dangerous illegal criminals (80,000+ roam our streets today thanks to obama)
but whatever- you and i are going to have to disagree- there isn’t a ‘lot of badass cops’ just itching to shoot people
[[Until they realize some of the world has military training that equals or bests their own. Random, faceless people who can hit 100% of the time from 500 yds or more.]]
Noy sure what that means? Are you advocating vigilantism on unsuspecting cops?
[[
Hogwash. They are agents of the state. They are not servants of the people.]]
Wow! ok- that answers my last question- have a nice day
People like you make the world a worse place. The man was murdered by a tattooed psychopath with a badge.
“Statistics show less than 1 percent of police officers run afoul of the law”
Less than 1 percent of cops are ever charged and convicted of running afoul of the law. Huge difference.
“Are you advocating vigilantism on unsuspecting cops?”
No. Merely my assessment of the passions being stirred by militarized police forces making too many “mistakes”.
As for the thin blue line that supposedly protects us, most of it we can do without.
It is outrageous...how the family must feel—sort of like Kate Steinle’s family...no justice.
Seems to me, that sometimes it is difficult for people in a given profession to admit that errors can be made by their peers...I have found this to be particularly true in the medical profession...very few docs will point finger at another doc.
This case is particularly egregious...due to the video that shows the grave missteps of this cop...How the jury could return a not guilty verdict for this cop is unfathomable to me, but then they did not see the full video or know it said “You’re F**ked on his AR15 during the trial.
Oh, and he said he would act the same way if he had it to do over!!!! Wow :(
Frankly, if I was an officer on that force, I would be fearful to ride with a cop who would act that way again... And why did the other cop not try to stop this?
Hope the wife of the deceased sues the cop for everything he owns.
Glad you armchair quarterbacked it...someone needs to ;(
And that's why I assume they're ALL psychotic murderers. Until they clean out the rot in their own community, the best of them is no better than the worst of them. If they don't police themselves, they will BE POLICED. And they won't like it. It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". Actions have consequences.
[[
No. Merely my assessment of the passions being stirred by militarized police forces making too many mistakes.]]
In that case- perhaps-
[[As for the thin blue line that supposedly protects us, most of it we can do without.]]
Most of it? There are a great many decent cops- a great many decent but inexperienced cops but very very few actual rogue cops
riiiiiight- have a nice day
