The leader of Purdue Universitys School of Engineering Education recently declared that academic rigor reinforces white male heterosexual privilege.
Donna Riley, who previously taught engineering at Smith College for 13 years, published an article in the most recent issue of the journal Engineering Education, arguing that academic rigor is a dirty deed that upholds white male heterosexual privilege.

This purported “professor” is a true nitwit. Her LIB lunacy is overwhelming what few functioning brain cells she possesses. What a fool.

They think that if they repeat the word “diverse” enough times they will have an important statement of research purpose.

One of my undergrad textbooks:
Rigorous analysis results in trains that run properly. Lack of rigor produces the result shown on the cover art. Mizz Riley must really like trainwrecks.

Thanks C19fan. Purdue needs a zero tolerance policy about making stupid sexist statements like this dumb bimbo was allowed to do

Smith College has an engineering program? LOL!!!
Of course they do. They’re engineering new ways to hate men.

Intersextions with the Latinx commurnity and to focus on the latent depredationary reactivity of the misogynoir activity of the so-called rigorous commurnity.

Ten years ago, I’d have said this story is a load of crap. Engineers simply aren’t wired that way.
After seeing what the engineering schools have been putting out since then...yeah, I believe it.

My visceral reaction in many conversations where I have seen rigor asserted has been to tell parties involved (regardless of gender) to whip them out and measure them already. That right there is sexual misconduct and she should be forced to resign from her position.

I think that it’s a mis-print. They forgot to put the word “Social” before the word “Engineering”.

Defining rigor as the aspirational quality academics apply to disciplinary standards of quality, Riley asserts that rigor is used to maintain disciplinary boundaries, with exclusionary implications for marginalized groups and marginalized ways of knowing. (Emphasis added.)
That's how she defines "rigor", huh. If she can make her own definitions, so can I, to wit:
Feminism-the aspirational quality academics apply to disciplinary standards of quality; used to maintain disciplinary boundaries, with exclusionary implications for marginalized groups and marginalized ways of knowing.
See how that works with the rest of the article.

Mitch Daniels runs Purdue. Purdue, as universities go, is a pretty conservative university. The engineering is as conservative for a public university that I know of.
This is way out of line for Purdue. I suspect her future there is short. Purdue is proud of it’s Rigorous Engineering Curriculum.
My question is how did she get there to begin with?
