I like the education about OC in NY that I get here.
Most of it makes little sense to me being a small town kid.
Well, there’s many levels of gangster and associate in the mafia.
Could be as simple as a 16 year old getting a job in an ice cream place, making a copy of the key, giving it to a low level mafiosi, the place gets robbed, the kid gets a kickback, some money goes up to the higher bosses, and everybody’s happy.
Except the guy whose store got robbed. And if for some reason he was there, beaten :(
I LOVE The Godfathers I and II. That is how VERY FEW bosses of bosses live.
You don’t want to be that disconnected from the streets.
I assume if we saw Sonny’s day to day activities in a movie, there would be a lot of violence and crime shown.
Well, a lot more :)
The Mafia did start here to protect Italians because Italians who had recently come over had no power and were easy targets for other groups and even the police.
But of course they quickly turned on their own.
That’s what gangsters do.
