McCarthy has had some terrific articles recently analyzing the Mueller investigation, but this one is way off base and it's pretty clear that Andy's rabidly anti-Trump editors at NRO have told him to ease up on the Trump exonerating stuff.

Agreed, it is at it's core a pro-FBI, anti-Trump article, which is the opposite of many of his other recent articles. The obvious change in tone is quite interesting.

But as to the main point of the article, yes Trump could order this information released, and that may happen. But a very good reason for that not happening now is that it's evidence in an ongoing criminal investigation that will bring down the 0bama DOJ/FBI, and that's something waiting for.

Be careful thinking there is an actual criminal investigation going on right now targeting Strzok, Mueller, or anyone at the DoJ. All that we know is that the Inspector General is conducting an audit, which is a far cry from a criminal investigation. And, the IG lead is an Obama appointee. Right now the DoJ is under onslaught from Congress, the conservative media, and Trump's twitter, but Sessions seems more interested in protecting the perceived integrity of his department, than actually finding the truth, which could require prosecuting several potential criminals under his helm.

He mystifies me. From all accounts he is as righteous as they come, but he acts like someone being blackmailed. He reminds me of Sergeant Schultz. Actually, FBI director Wray acts like that too.

Never Trumper McCarthy bizarrely assumes that the same FBI folks currently stonewalling Congress will be happy to turn over incriminating documents to the White House that burn them.

In all likelihood they would stonewall the White House, too. At that point POTUS faces a major crisis. Fire them and send Marines over to seize their computers or do nothing. No win for him there.

All true. And I'm probably getting out over of my skis, but after the way Jim Jordan treated FBI Director Wray this week, I just assumed that that IG report is going to have some pretty damning stuff in it.
