I love reading stories like this although I feel bad for the folks forced to take a life.

There should be a ministry devoted to helping these people cope.

I’m old. But not sure if I’m too old to fight. smile. (turn 70 this month) My father is 92, (WWII Vet) he is still a pretty good shot. He still likes guns.

Helps the police if you can mark the perp for identification. They told me that.

That is one feisty 84 year old—God bless him and his family. How wonderful that he refused to be a victim.

Dang! You are lucky... If I have a break-in:

• I'd jump out of bed;
• get into my boat;
• cruise out into the Chesapeake Bay south of the Bay Bridge;
• get my scuba equipment on;
• retrieve one of my guns;
• climb back into the boat;
• get back to the dock;
• unpack the AK;
• run back into my house; and,
• shoot the mf scumbag.

I was watching some kid wandering around in our neighbor’s back yard and grabbed my shotgun and kept watching, with phone in hand calling the police. The kid hopped my wood fence. I stepped outside and yelled “Hey!” and lifted the shotgun up a bit higher with one hand. He cleared that 6-foot fence like it was nothing!

The police were there in 5 minutes, but I’m guessing they never caught him as they never returned back to my house to ID him or anything.

When I was in grade school I used to sleep with a cap gun under my pillow. One morning I woke up to find that I'd fired it during the night. I quit keeping it there after that. Now I have a burglar alarm, and keep my gun on the nightstand.
