Amid the talk of draining swamps, restoring political might to blue-collar America and turning off the spigot of taxpayer cash that showers Washington, a familiar battle cry is ricocheting through this city: Move the bureaucrats out.
It has the ring of a Trumpian fantasy. Dislodge arms of the federal government from Washington and reattach them in faraway places, spreading the wealth generated by these well-paid agency workforces and forcing senior bureaucrats to face the people they affect.

Congress critters should have their offices in the State/Districts they represent. Reined in by their citizen constituents, maybe they’ll get a better “feel” of what the PEOPLE think for a change.
In DC, you write them...you might get a milquetoast “form” letter in response; call them, it goes to voicemail hell; fax them, it’s usually busy, or out of paper; get an appointment with them at the Capitol...fergit it.
The only time they face voters is at election time, and now they employ armies of campaign workers for all of the hard work, while they hang out in air conditioned TV and radio studios, talking down their noses to the rest of us.
Black reps/senators don’t show that they give a damn about anyones’ problems but fellow, black voters.
So, put those suckers back amongst the voters and let them try to make it to their office everyday without answering to the people.
They can all fly to DC once a quarter to debate and vote on pending bills, and then...back home to face the music for their “freshly submitted votes” on the issues at hand.
It would be more efficient, more taxpayer oriented, and much, much, cheaper in the long run.
DC Metro is the best socialism that capitalism can provide.
Current law provides for "Locality based pay scales" for federal employees... and, commute times for cheaper housing in the DC area already are 2-3 hours for many!
You do not get it. But you never do.
I’m still waiting for a couple of departments to be declared unnecessary and be eliminated.
Alaska
I suggest Prudhoe Bay for the EPA Department and Guam for the Education Department.
Congress in Leavenworth....I like it.
The problem isn’t where but who. Career bureaucrats are always going to make bureaucratic decisions primarily focused on their job safety.

I wish there was a requirement that everyone working in DC had to live in DC or Maryland, so that Virginia could be a Red State once more. The swamp critters have swallowed Virginia like a python would a wild hog.
The cost of living in DC is already extremely high. Very few people who aren’t from there or assigned there with the military can afford to move there. If you have a family, you have to live hours commute out of town so your children can to to a safe school, as no ordinary mortal could afford the costs of DC living and private education.
I’ll have to look for a list. All military bases would have officers housing, schools, clubs and of course, offices. Security wouldn’t be a problem. I wonder how many of them are still vacant.
The only ones that would have issues are the youngsters that like the DC night life, and the power hungry leeches, that need to be recognized.
BTW, there are some great people in federal service. It's the leadership that screws it up.
More specifically, the post-17th Amendment ratification Congress wrongly established such agencies with state powers and state revenues that Congress stole by means of unconstitutional appropriations bills, unconstitutional Obamacare a great example.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]." Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
"The smart crooks long ago figured out that getting themselves elected to federal office to make unconstitutional tax laws to fill their pockets is a much easier way to make a living than robbing banks." me
"Federal career lawmakers probably laugh all the way to the bank to deposit bribes for putting loopholes for the rich and corporations in tax appropriations laws, Congress actually not having the express constitutional authority to make most laws where domestic policy is concerned. Such laws are based on stolen state powers and uniquely associated stolen state revenues." me
The remedy to unconstitutionally big federal government
Patriots need to finish the job that they started by electing Trump president in 2016.
More specifically, patriots now need to be making sure that there are plenty of state sovereignty-respecting, Pres. Trump-supporting patriot candidate lawmakers on the 2018 primary ballots, and pink-slip career lawmakers by sending patriots candidate lawmakers to D.C. on election day.
And in order to make Pres. Trump's vision for MAGA last for many generations imo, patriots must support Trump in working with the states to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments.
Note that by repealing 17A, the states will effectively secede from the corrupt federal government. (Are you listening Gov. Brown?)
Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!
Lets hope we have time to get this done. Just think how much we can do to help the poor by giving them a job.
But they would get moral support in Blue States & be amongst their own kind. Better they feel isolated, out of place & quit or quit in horror before even moving. The local folks would be excellent replacements and more likely to work to MAGA.
Any world capital sees lots of development. Don’t be a drama queen.
Petition away, but it ain’t gonna happen. The installed government infrastructure in DC is simply too massive to move.
