Amid the talk of draining swamps, restoring political might to blue-collar America and turning off the spigot of taxpayer cash that showers Washington, a familiar battle cry is ricocheting through this city: Move the bureaucrats out.
It has the ring of a Trumpian fantasy. Dislodge arms of the federal government from Washington and reattach them in faraway places, spreading the wealth generated by these well-paid agency workforces and forcing senior bureaucrats to face the people they affect.

I don’t think it was recruiters!
It was just an Air Force joke we all told.
“Why not Minot?”, was always followed with “Because freezin’s the reason!”
To reduce our carbon footprint.
Leavenworth KS would be a constant reminder that there is alternative housing should they go too far afield ...
Precisely.
How ever setting up a tent city for them
a few miles south of Yuma AZ might work.
Who knew “Trumpian” would become an adjective?
For yrs i have thought that DC should be moved to state of Kansas...plenty of flat land and plenty of space.
And there’s ice fishing...
The EPA should go to Alaska
I like it. Don’t we have a bunch of closed down military bases Trump could use to house a few of these agencies. Like HUD and the Dept of Education? :-)
***We need to move the Capital to Lebanon KS***
Why not Wichita, KS! That way Criswell of Criswell Predicts will have gotten ONE right!

I have long argued that the best indicator that the swamp is being drained will be a significant decline in housing prices in the DC area. If that happens, Trump is succeeding. But if they continue rising, the swamp denizens will have bested him.
True story told to me by a best friend and damn-near brother. In the early 80s he was being recruited by the Air Force and he was requesting bases in Italy, Germany, etc. The recruiter said that he should ask for three: 2 maybes and a sure thing like Malmstrom Air Force Base in the event the other two were not possible. Needless to say he started his Air Force career guarding nukes in Montana, our home state. While “hobbiting” in the silos there he got real tired of rabbits tripping alarms.
He ended his career as a Master Sergeant (E-7 I think) and ended up marrying an Air Force Captain anesthesiologist on the down-low shortly before they both left the service. He is a great guy.
Use the same strategy obamsky used for relocating illegal aliens all cross the blue country...
You win the thread. They will be safe up there & will not suffer the effects of Global warming.
Why not Minot? A phrase made famous by Air Force recruiters for a long time now.”
I would go the other way. Since most of the bureaucrats in the alphabet agencies encircling Washington DC are liberals, I would send them to solidly blue states.
The places I would send them are San Francisco, Santa FE and Seattle. These three places have an extremely high cost of living. Their salaries would get them a 400 square foot hovel of an apartment or they could face a four hour commute (one way) for cheaper housing.
Also, when liberals are in blue states they can’t change the balance of power in local elections. No one in a red state wants an influx of liberals.
By tremendously increasing their cost of living and a Trump salary freeze I think many of them will leave on their own. When one leaves Trump can eliminate the position permanently.
Additionally when whole federal departments are relocated the DC housing market will tank, giving the bureaucrats infesting these agencies a financial enema.
It will help the traffic jams too! I just read that some Virginia tolls were up to $40 during rush hour(s).
I think almost $45 on Monday morning. Good thing our overlords are well paid.
Where does the “big one” go, the IRS?
