I'm betting the ricochet theory is a load of cr@p conjured up to make it look like a terrible accident. Never mind the murderer is a 5 time felon.

He probably set out to kill someone so he could get lifetime room and board and free meals for life (prison). Even HE underestimated how PATHETIC our court system is. I'm sure he's thinking 'Ohhhh no I won't be incarcerated for life, what do I do NOW?'

Yes that is exactly it - a terrible tragedy I lived in SF at the time and have a daughter that is 16, but facts appears to not keep some here from wanting to commit murder.
