First Daughter Ivanka Trump was in Hyderabad, India this week touting female entrepreneurship. Too bad she wasted the opportunity by plagiarizing much of her remarks from one of her previous speeches, Newsweek declared Wednesday in its piece, "Ivanka Trump Plagiarizes One of Her Own Speeches in India."
The Newsweek editors regretted that "the breadth of her talking points were recycled from a previous speech she gave during a foreign trip earlier this month." That other "foreign trip" appears to be the one she made to Tokyo, Japan.
They pulled some specific excerpts to prove they had caught Ivanka red handed.
"When women work, it creates a unique multiplier effect," Trump said in Hyderabad, citing the same exact line from her Tokyo speech. Her words continued to mirror the speech she gave just a few weeks ago: "Women are more likely than men to hire other women, and to give them access to capital, mentorship and networks. Women are also more likely to reinvest their income back in their families and communities."
Politicians and other public figures are apt to recycle their favorite phrases, as Newsweek notes. But, the editors also suggest that Ivanka is repeating herself to promote a new World Bank initiative, which some lawmakers say is unethical.
Media pundits were quick to point out that you can't plagiarize your own words. CNN's Jake Tapper was more than happy to share the dictionary definition for Newsweek for future reference.
If its your own work, it isnt plagiarism. By definition. https://t.co/C6FZtglbex https://t.co/9yWSf4CTw5 Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) November 30, 2017

Since the backlash, Newsweek changed its headline and issued a correction explaining that Ivanka had "reused," not plagiarized, an earlier speech.
Try writing for a very active boss who liked to travel. My record was 14 in one week. There were half a dozen major issue areas that we addressed pretty regularly, and by this time I had a pretty good template for each one. Unless the same group has heard the speech before, there's nothing wrong with reusing the material with very minor tweaks. After all, you should be consistent in your messaging. "The speech" evolves over time as circumstances change, events intrude, and fresh material develops, but reuse is to be expected.
...You cant plagiarize yourself...
The ignorance of democrats and other liberals is literally breathtaking.
And someone broke into my house today, stole everything, and replaced them with exact duplicates.
I heard she imitated her own voice as well.
What is this Newsweak you speak of?
Mark
Nor any editors who can slap the erring writer upside the head and refuse to publish it.
The problem is, they got ahead of the curve. Right-wingers joke about what they’ll do next, and then they do it, defying credulity. But nobody saw this coming.
So we’ve got to get back on top of them, or next thing you know, the gays will all move down South and start acting like good ol’ boys, driving pickups, hunting and fishing, and listening to Country Western on the radio. You won’t be able to tell them apart, they’re such good mimicks, except that they’ll be holding hands during the rape scene in Deliverance, and singing Jim Nabors songs. Or going out back of honky tonks, and bending each other over, and saying “Squeal like a pig!” while they go at it. Inevitably, they’ll start listening to Rush and Mark Levin and Sean Hannity, just to fit in, and that’s when the pendulum will have gone full circle.
OK, libtards. We gave you the joke. Now get to work.
Look, Newsweek continues to imitate a magazine so their not knowing the difference between “plagiarizing” and “repeating” is par for the course.
Let’s rename them “NewsWeak”. It is most appropriate.
F*ck newsweek. They knew what they were saying when they printed “plagiarized.” It’s what they meant to say. They know that millions of dumb readers will accept what the headline says without question.
They can’t be “getting” mentally ill!! Would you say that Michael Moore is “getting” fat?? Is a seven footer “getting” tall?? Is Pelosi “getting” stupid?? They ARE mentally ill, it is hard to imagine them getting any MORE mentally ill than they already are.
Newsweek is really reaching, right out of the galaxy.
OK. You’re right. Their mental illness is getting worse, though. Keep sharp things out of their reach.
Exactly what I thought when I read the headline.
The LAMESTREAM media has become truly desperate.
