Moron Actors are Morons
heh. Beat me by 7 seconds.
Hitler couldn’t have said it better; Carry is using the same rhetoric he did.
This came in some post from another Freeper yesterday:
From a science fiction novel by Heinlein IN 1987:
The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance! (please read the date this was published)
But there seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously after all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he proves himself to be both ignorant and sub-literate every time he opens his mouth. (Most of his fans were just as ignorant and unlettered; the disease was spreading.)
[To Sail Beyond The Sunset (1987) Robert A. Heinlein]
I consider these so-called “celebrities” nothing more than the jesters in the King’s court in the old days.....nothing but “entertainment” and not even so good at that.
Back then, if the King didn’t like their “entertainment”, he could have their head loped off. Today, we just ignore em.
Which is classical left wing behavior in the mold of the French Revolution.
The love of dissent only extends to when they are dissenting.
I also gave him some self-awareness credit back in the day for the outtakes at the end of “Liar, Liar” when he confesses his acting secret is just prepostrously over-acting.
He’s right, of course. His whole schtick was over-acting, but he was good at it, and funny. Looking back, the Truman Show attempted some depth, but was just so surprisingly humorous. It TOTALLY could have had Truman conditioned to clownishly overact, which would then make his discovery of REAL emotion ever more poignant... imagine the chaos and turmoil when he fails to deliver some slapsticky “OMG,” and instead simply quietly almost, but not quite, cries upon discovering the back of the dome?... and then slowly stiffens his upper lip and presses onward?
To be fair, there is some clownishness to his big, cheesy grin, but this comes off more as bitter satire of America’s Great days than a conditioned disconnect with reality, as if his audience were simpletons demanding to be fed treacle. I mean things that would make his inside-the-movie audience laugh at him.
I meant “humorless,” not humorous:

Come to think of it, the movie OVERTLY telling its real audience, “You came for comedy, well, you’ll get that, but here’s a good helping of reality, too” works thematically.
Again, the movie DOES substitute depth for promised comedy, but in a bait and switch, rather as an added layer of complexity.
Jim Carrey claims late girlfriend faked STD medical records to extort him
Snips:
Jim Carreys late girlfriend Cathriona White had sexually transmitted diseases before she met Carrey and faked medical records in an attempt to extort him for millions of dollars, the actors legal team claimed in new court documents.
Sweetman and Burton slammed Carey, saying in a statement to People magazine that his new court filing was a desperate attempt to save himself.
Carrey has now resorted to outright falsehoods. Lets see if his story holds up once he is under oath. It wont, the statement said. Carreys lawyers are asking for the case against him to be dismissed if the medical records are fabricated. The new filing comes weeks after the attorney for Whites estate released a note allegedly written by White in 2013 that accused Carrey of giving her STDs and exposing her to drugs and mental abuse.
"Before you I might not have had very much, but I had respect, I was a happy person, I loved life, I was confident and I felt good in my own skin and was proud of most decisions I made," reads the note, which was dated April 8, 2013. "I met you, you introduced me to cocaine, prostitutes, mental abuse and disease, the note allegedly written by White stated.
She accused Carrey of giving her HPV and HSV.
He’s quite the slimeball.
No offense to slime.
Jim Carrey fits the description below perfectly!
