Secret Donors Are Financing Leandra English Lawsuit Against Trump
The DC ^ | 11/28/2017 | RICHARD POLLOCK

Posted on 11/29/2017 6:01:52 AM PST by sdthree

Secret donors are financing the lawsuit against President Donald Trump and White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney over who runs the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Deepak Gupta, the lead lawyer of a boutique law firm that launched its suit on behalf of CFPB acting director Leandra English, confirmed in a CNBC interview that English is not paying for his hourly fees, but rather unknown anonymous donors are.

Gupta refused to name who is funding the lawsuit, making it difficult to ascertain the motives, intentions, or any special interests of those underwriting the case.

The D.C. lawyer appeared caught off guard when CNBC hosts asked who was financing his effort. He stumbled over his words in his first answer and said some form of unidentified “structure” was being put in place to accept funds from anonymous donors.

“Well, uh, it’s, it’s not, um, Miss, um English, um, ah. There are ethics lawyers that we’ve consulted, and we have a structure set up that is with ethics rules and, um, we’ll and we’ll be talking about that once we have that,” he told CNBC.

When repeatedly asked who is paying for the case, which could go all the way to the Supreme Court, Gupta answered, “It’s just not appropriate for me to be talking about that right now.”

CNBC’s host asked Gupta if his firm is handling the case pro bono. “No. We’re not,” Gupta replied.

Gupta previously worked for Ralph Nader’s litigation group, which historically has always demanded openness and transparency from government entities.

Trump installed Mulvaney as CFPB acting director after former director Richard Cordray stepped down over the Thanksgiving weekend. Cordray named English his successor before stepping down, leading to the battle for control of the agency that is the brainchild of Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former President Barack Obama.

English claims she is “rightful acting director,” and the case is now before U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly.

CFPB did not finance the case and the bureau’s own lawyers do not support English’s argument.

Mary E. McLeod, the CFPB’s internal general counsel, said she sided with the White House in the dispute, according to the Washington Post.

“I advise all Bureau personnel to act consistently with the understanding that Director Mulvaney is the Acting Director of the CFPB,” she told employees.

Gupta repeatedly refused to identify any of the donors. His law firm, Gupta Wessler, is known as the “anti-Trump” law firm in the nation’s capital.

Former U.S. Attorney Joseph DiGenova said Gupta and English’s reliance on anonymous donors “really focuses on the dangers of not having full accountability for the expenditure of funds for this type of litigation.”

“The usual suspects like Styer and Soros could well be funding this. However, from a government accountability point, this is ‘Bad Government 101,” he said.

It is unclear if some of the financiers are billionaire liberal donors such as George Soros or Tom Steyer.

“The lack of transparency, which Democrats ordinarily would be all over it, I’m sure are just thrilled about this for the moment. It’s utterly disgraceful,” he added.

“We don’t know if some of the funds are coming from the financial institutions or organizations she’s regulating. We don’t know who it is. In which case, that would be criminal.”

DiGenova said the presiding judge could ask English who is financing her litigation effort.

The DCNF contacted Gupta on Monday, but he declined to return our calls.

I’m surprised Mr. Gupta has risen to such prominence in the practice of law, running off at the mouth and being so easily encouraged to do so. He sounds like a bit of a rube and a dumb-@ quite frankly. But, I suppose we should be thankful for this since his is reportedly the preeminent anti-Trump law firm in DC. Any reasonably decent attorney would have told reporters that he doesn’t discuss his clients’ financial arrangements with anyone, let alone rude, strange people accosting him outside of his office.

I am betting that another scandal will be uncovered here. there is just to much opportunity for corruption with this agency and trying to block a appointment in the courts seems to be a hail Mary pass by the deep state.

That should be very interesting. Why does cfpb need sleeping arrangements on any floor?

The Conservative Treehouse.

sundance has done an excellent job of pretty much breaking this Trump-sneaks-in-to-shut-down-corrupt-agency story and recapping the timeline of this Dem slush fund/agency.

I posted links, the other day, to CTH’s three or four part series, on this.

Exactly.

sundance just posted that he may write about it, tomorrow.

Maybe we’ll know, soon.

This entire agency is nothing but a corrupt, Dem slush fund. That’s why Faux Lizzy is fighting tooth and wigwam, for this. She and Bamster started this dirty deal.

I can’t wait for ALL of their slush funds to be exposed.

“Am I missing something, isn’t this over? The judge ruled yesterday that Mulvaney has the job courtesy of President Trump!”

Unfortunately, this will not be over until Trump gets his man in office, and then the new head guy, shuts down this cash cow for the rats.

Pocahontas/Liewatha/Graybeaver is up to her white cheeks* in sucking off the cash from this vile outfit.

*I will leave that up to your imagination re which white cheeks on Pocahontas/Liewatha/Graybeaver.

“Does anyone really know that the CFPB does?”

This is the question of the month?

The next question is why are all the liberal fake charities/non profits and people like Pocahontas/Liewatha/Graybeaver fighting to keep this illegal money creator going for the libs.

When Trump gets his way here, a lot of DC Swamp Water will be sterilized with a lot of swamp critters running for safety.

Rule 1.8 (e) of the Uniform Rules of Professional Conduct (for attorneys practicing in Washington DC) reads as follows:

“A lawyer shall not accept compensation for representing a client, or
anything of value related to the lawyer’s representation of the client, from one other
than the client unless:
(1) the client gives informed consent;
(2) there is no interference with the lawyer’s
independent professional judgment or with the clientlawyer
relationship; and
(3) the client’s confidential information is protected as
required by Rule 1.6.”

In my opinion, a client cannot possibly give “informed consent” unless the client and the lawyer know the identity of the person paying the legal fees. Indeed, the lawyer must know the source of the payments in order to determine whether the lawyer’s representation creates a conflict of interest with another client or former client. This is basic.

First all computers should be unaccessible until every bit on the hard drive is copied. Second All shredding machines should be removed from the building. Third employess should go through TSA stule checks and no bags should be allowed in or out of the building. The place should be locked down and systematically all records and files should be copied and secured in a place away from the building and kept under security and lock and key until it has had a chance to be sorted and mined for any and all information pertainable to the previous administration. This includes all emails from outside of the organization.

——another——

I would argue that for such a strong defense, there are multiple scandals to be revealed. Not only that but the instantaneous and strong action by the new interim director means they have the goods and he intends to prevent destruction of evidence on the premisis

BACKSTORY House Judiciary Committee Chair Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), revealed that the Obama Justice Dept (aided and abetted by Congressional Democrats and then-AG Eric Holder) apparently violated US laws by demanding settlements from businesses in the form of “mandatory donations” to left liberal activist groups.

Over two years of the Obama admin those coerced “donations” amounted to a billion dollars.

In an apparent looting and shakedown scheme akin to an organized crime MO, left-wing interest groups (a) the radical La Raza, (b) the Urban League, (c) the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, (d) Neighborhood America (formerly ACORN) that stood to gain from mandatory donation provisions were they, themselves, involved in placing self-serving provisions in the Obama govt’s shakedown scheme.

It is entirely possible that the Obama admin, Eric Holder, Congressional Democrats and left wing groups may have committed federal offenses, including, but not limited to:

<><> Title 18 U.S.C. §1341, Mail Fraud, 18 U.S.C.§1001, Presenting a False Document to an Agent of the US Government for funding (may involve several felonies and could include forgery);

<><> 18 U.S.C.§1027 False statements and concealment of facts in relation to funding documents required by ERISA enacted 1974 and other possible offenses including civil and/or criminal RICO violations.

<><> 18 U.S.C. §§1961-68 (RICO Act)18 U.S.C. §1001 (making false Statements to Agents of the US Government regarding federal funding),

<><> 18 U.S.C. §241(Conspiracies Against Civil Rights). Violation of Civil Rights under Color of law and conspiracy. Conspiring with others to violate conservative students’ 4th amendment rights.

<><> Possibly full investigations centering on RICO conspiracies under 18 U.S.C. §1962(c) could be warranted because (1) the persons (2) were employed by or associated with a federally funded enterprise (3) that engaged in or affected interstate commerce and that (4) the persons operated or managed the enterprise (5) through a “pattern” (6) of racketeering activity, and (7) the taxpayers were injured by reason of the “pattern” of racketeering activity.

<><> Alleged Offenses could include Violation of Rights – which prohibits in relevant part, “two or more persons (from conspiring) to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District

<><> Title 18 U.S.C. §2 41 – Conspiracy Against Constitutional mandates in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of having so exercised the same . . .” See, 18 U.S.C. §241.

Taxpayers demand the following agencies commence investigations of liberal campus activities at once:

<><> FBI — Wire Fraud Division

<><> IRS-Fraud Unit

<><> Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General,

<><> Department of Commerce’s Office of Inspector General.

<><> DOJ’s Criminal Division— Public Integrity Section

<><> DOJ Criminal Division—Organized Crime and Gang Section.

An exercise in futility by anonymous donors and their PAC cash certainly points to someone with unlimited funds, who does not remotely care about cost. The goal is to continue the incoming against Trump, until their last breath.

This makes it easy to look at satanic Soros, or the other moron, Steyer.

There is no way that this organization can have total unaccountability and get rewarded for it in a court of law. NO court will excuse such a deal, without such a decision being overturned. imho.

Soros or one of the organizations or law firms feeding at the trough on those hundreds of millions of settlements and/or fines the CFPB has been shaking down from targeted companies.
