World War 3 fears: North Korea launches ICBM - South Korea FIRES missile back

NORTH Korea has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), sparking a ferocious "precision strike" rocket response from South Korea.

North Korea launched the missile at around 3am local time (6pm GMT), sparking a furious response from Seoul.

Within minutes of North Korea's ICBM launch, South Korea had fired its own missile launch in retaliation.

The North Korean missile was fired eastwards from the hermit state. The missile landed about 210km west of Japan's Kyurokujima island, Tokyo said.

Japanese media reports the missile was in the air for 50 minutes - indicating a very high altitude flight path.

It travelled east for around 620 miles and to an altitude of 2,500 miles before crashing into the Sea of Japan.

US leader Donald Trump was briefed on the missile while it was still in the air.

This late-night launch is rare, with most taking place during daylight hours.

A South Korean military official said earlier this evening: “We confirm that we have detected a North Korean ballistic missile launch. The missile is still travelling towards the direction to the East Sea, as we are monitoring right now.

My fear is that we cannot shoot it down. All NK has to do is fire a couple armed with nukes at us and America will panic and become paralyzed. We are not so damn strong when millions will be killed in such attacks. Something has to be done, and now.

Time for China to be advised that the US will no longer discourage Japan from developing a nuclear arsenal if they do not take care of Kim Jong Un within the next 2 months. The last thing China wants is a nuclear Japan.China hates Japan and a Japan with nukes will offset Chinese aggressive tendencies in the region as well as send a signal to North Korea and China that should another missile land off Japan’s shores Japan will have ultimate weapons to defend themselves and wreak havoc in the region

Working with NNSA/OST, I can assure you that the DO NOT have nukes....(pssstt....but probably could go nuclear in <90days if they have to. SKorea...>180 days).

100 of the modern version of the Pershing II, inclusive of nukes, deployed by South Korea would end this in a month.

China would certainly fix it.

If they don’t, they can put a few together in about thirty minutes.

Japan could get an A-bomb ready to go in about a week. An H-Bomb might take a month or two. If we helped—days not weeks. Japan is a modern nation like Germany.

Why do I not see ANY references (other than the headline) to a South Korean missile being launched?

Altitude of 2,500 miles? Sounds odd.

Are the Norks trying to take out our Hubble telescope in space?

Before the shooting starts the South Koreans will have to have a plan to neutralize all of North Korea's dug in artillery batteries. Thought satellite inspection and the targeting of every Nork bombardment position with bunker busters, cruise missiles and counter battery action, all designed to take out 9,000+ pieces within the first 10 minutes of hostilities.
