New York Times columnist Charles Blow took to Twitter Friday afternoon with a message of unity, no doubt inspired by Divine Providence after rejoicing in the Thanksgiving holiday.
Just kidding. The author of Fire Shut Up in My Bones told his followers point blank that Trump fans need not apply for friendship.
If u support Trump, we don't have anything to talk abt & we can't be friends. This isn't abt parties or ideology; This is abt right & wrong Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
He followed up his Tweet saying that Trumps lying was the cornerstone of his rejection of his political adversaries.
Lying is a foundational sin; It makes all other sins possible. Trump lies ALL THE TIME. That for me is a deal-breaker out of the gate! Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
Blow also offered a pretty lame life mantra.
This is my mantra: Equal rights for everyone, global warming is real, equal pay, #BLM, #LovesIsLove, #believewomen. And I'm anti-Trump! Charles M. Blow (@CharlesMBlow) November 24, 2017
This type of anti-Trump commentary is not that surprising for the opinion writer. In an article titled "Trump Isnt Hitler. But the Lying...", Blow wrote:
"That is the very real threat we are facing. Trump isnt necessarily a direct threat to your life unless of course you are being kept alive by health care that he keeps threatening, or if youre in Puerto Rico reeling in the wake of two hurricanes but he is very much a threat to your quality of life."
However, his thinking is delusional for multiple reasons. In his mind, mere support for the president of the United States is an affront to him as a person. Therefore, rather than find commonality with his political opponent on a variety of other issues, the easiest route for him is to cut them out of his life completely. He forgoes the possibility of converting somebody who disagrees with him because it's easier to surround himself with likeminded people.
Blow is advocating the polar opposite of one our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson wrote, "I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend."
What a sad life one leads when they allow political factions to seep into personal friendships.
I know what you are saying. But she was a true friend. The power of leftist media influence is so strong on these people that they become brainwashed into thinking someone like me is evil. Its like what happened to gullible Germans in WWII.
I love her despite the fact that she didnt have enough core principles to see that she was being brainwashed. So I am really sad and will always miss her unless and until she comes back, maybe after seeing what Trump does to better life in the USA for us all.
I would commit seppuku if I had to watch those shows.
Funny: when I was recovering from brain surgery in the hospital 4 years ago, high as a kite on morphine, they wake you up so early and I couldnt go back to sleep, so I thought Id turn on the insipid morning shows on tv. I figured being strung out of my mind maybe those shows would be about my speed.
Nope. They were TOO IDIOTIC even for someone high on opiates. Ha Ha.
How long has the Times been hiring teenagers? Or is Blow a preteen?
So, who would want to be friends with an idiot like this guy anyway?
I'll wager there is no value in being friends with this.
I am so sad for you. Thank goodness you had more than one child. I hope that never happens to me. I dont always agree with my oldest (the only one with any political interest) but we agree on the basics of freedom. And I pray your daughter comes around one day.
It is pathetic and disgusting. This is what passes for news.
It isn’t news, you know it and I know it.
WE know we don’t want to be friends with the likes of NYT reporters, or any iteration of leftist from Barack Obama to Bill Ayers to Charles Blow all the way down to that idiot at work who thinks Hillary was cheated by Russian collusion.
They don’t want to be ‘friends’ with anyone who supports Trump.
This is reality. But it isn’t news. And it is disconcerting they view it as such.
If you work for the New York Slimes, we can't be friends.
I can not be fiends with Leftist or Atheist. When your beliefs are 180 degrees opposite of everything I hold to be truth, then Bye Bye.
They know that. This country is suffering from the cancer that is Modern Liberalism and everyone who loves the United States needs to be the chemotherapy, with extreme prejudice if they push it that far.
Well, I can only speak for myself, but I’m not one to keep company with people like Mr Blow. The feeling is mutual. I don’t even consider this to be about political differences; it is more about American vs anti-American.
“It’s Mega Maid! She’s gone from SUCK to BLOW!!!”
;^)
Who wants to be friends with your kind, America-hating baby killing homo-loving liberal?
Another NY Times writer looking for the great “Walter Duranty” journalist award? I haven’t seen a NYT paper anywhere in the last 12 years. How many copies to they print these days? Why are they even relevant anymore, they should be gone like the Herald Tribune by now. Did the left lose the Daily Woiker?
bump
Charles Blow-Me actually reveals much about their tactics with this sentence:
“This isn’t abt parties or ideology; This is abt right & wrong.”
It’s the same type of thought as the Lindsay Shepherd inquisition, and a million other examples: our political positions are not partisan or ideological, they’re just right and good. Anyone who doesn’t agree is “literally Hitler”.
In a crowded room, half the people should not be dismissed as deplorables.
Yet another example of the Orwellian world in which leftists live.
They are simply substituting POTUS Trump for Emmanuel Goldstein.
Mark
Works for me..........
Sheesh.
I haven’t been “friends” with or considered NYTimes as anything but an avowed enemy of the United States (and therefore me) since 1965 and I’m embarrassed that it took me so long to arrive at that conclusion. (Enlightenment comes faster when you begin to attend Memorial Services, I guess.)
Why are you so late to the dance, Mister Blow?
