Doesn’t sound good. Two things though:
1. Joint defense agreements have a conflict of interest between the parties they serve.
2. This may actually protect Trump in some degree in separating Trump’s lawyers from Flynn’s defense. This mayestablish them as separate, not responsible or knowing of the actions and claims of the other.

Still gut is it sounds bad, just pointing out some possible positive things on this.

Manafort,
Russia
"Putin won't stop at Crimea"
"Russia's aggression against Ukraine."

You're trying awfully hard to derail the thread and inject the deep state neocon Kristol, McCain, Jebbie, Rubio and countless others' fantasies into the discussion! Wow!

No sane person is buying this crap. Leave Russia alone 'mkay? The wall fell, Christianity is rebounding, Communism relocated to the (D)ummycrat party. Thank your lucky stars that Gorbachev didn't hang on to collaborate with all the other globalists around the world. Then we would be in a real pickle.

Don't be fooled by outward appearances.
The Russians are mighty clever when it comes to sophisticated acts of deception. The KGB and its successor the FSB were/are notorious for it.

WCC welcomes meeting of Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill for unity and peace

12 February 2016

Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), has issued a statement on behalf of the Council hailing the historic meeting of Pope Francis, pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, and Patriarch Kirill, primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The two leaders met on 12 February in Havana, Cuba.

Catch that? The Russian Orthodox Church is the largest member of the (hard left) World Council of Churches!

That is all you need to know to understand that it is a sham operation. Reverend Wright’s fake church United Church of Christ (UCC) is also a member. In fact, his (communist) “Black Liberation Theology” was concocted by the KGB.

The Russians must laugh their butts off at how easily westerners can be tricked and deceived. They are great chess players, thinking many moves ahead of their opponents, while most of us, unfortunately, have a difficult time at simple checkers.

Putin: Defender of Christian Faith and Morality?

September 2014

(excerpt from a long, detailed article)

First and foremost, in any review of the basics regarding Putin, the most outstanding fact is that he is a creature of the Soviet KGB, a truly diabolical organization nonpareil, which stood for murder, terror, and grand deception.

It was the Soviet Communist Party's tool for the brutal suppression of religion, including the persecution of Christians: denying them jobs and education; spying on and entrapping them; arresting and imprisoning them; torturing them in unspeakable ways; desecrating and demolishing their church buildings; infiltrating their agents into churches to subvert them. The KGB destroyed thousands of Christian churches, monasteries, convents, and schools, and slaughtered millions of Christians.

But it did not destroy the churches utterly. There remained an underground church, whose members were always at risk of discovery, arrest, torture, and martyrdom. Above ground, the KGB took control of the Russian Orthodox Church, which became a very useful organ of the Soviet atheist state.

In January 2009, Vladimir Mikhailovich Gundyaev, better known as Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, was elected, from a short list of three candidates, to be the 16th Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, the highest position of authority in the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The election was called to fill the post that had been left vacant by the death of Patriarch Alexy II, who had headed the ROC since 1990.

Documents from the KGB archives have confirmed what sensible observers had long ago deduced from his actions: that Patriarch Alexy II (also spelled Alexi or Alexei) was a long-serving KGB agent (code-named Drozdov, "Blackbird"), in other words, a traitor to his Christian brethren and the God he claimed to serve. Putin's KGB/FSB was taking no chances with his replacement. All three candidates - Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk (code-named Topaz), Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk (code-named Ostrovskii), and Metropolitan Kirill (code-named Mikhailov) - also have been reliably identified as agents of the KGB/FSB.

Russia expert David Satter, a former Moscow correspondent for the Financial Times (of London) and the Wall Street Journal, wrote of the election in 2009 for Forbes:

According to material from the Soviet archives, Kirill was a KGB agent (as was Alexei). This means he was more than just an informer, of whom there were millions in the Soviet Union. He was an active officer of the organization. Neither Kirill nor Alexei ever acknowledged or apologized for their ties with the security agencies.

Because Patriarch Kirill is of central importance to the myth of Putin as the Saul-to-Paul, Christian persecutor-to-Christian champion, it behooves us to more closely examine the man. He has publicly presided over, and provided official benedictions and exhortations for, Putin's cynical and Stalinesque exploitation of Russian nationalism and Russian Orthodoxy. Josef Stalin, who had very nearly consummated the annihilation of the Russian Orthodox Church begun by Vladimir Lenin, reversed course in 1941. The reason? His erstwhile partner in crime, Adolf Hitler, had turned on him and had invaded Russia.

Stalin, needing all the help he could get, cut a deal with ROC Metropolitans Sergius, Nikolay, and Alexy. In exchange for their support in rallying the Russian people, he would cease (temporarily) the persecution and allow the reopening of churches and theological schools. In fact, Stalin's Soviet government paid for the rebuilding of many of the churches. The ROC was thus placed even more firmly under the control of the NKVD, which was later to be reorganized and renamed as the KGB. ..."

He moved to Moscow in 1996 and joined President Boris Yeltsin's administration where he rose quickly, becoming Acting President on 31 December 1999 when Yeltsin unexpectedly resigned. Putin won the subsequent 2000 presidential election, despite widespread accusations of vote-rigging,[3] and was reelected in 2004."

"On 25 July 1998, Yeltsin appointed Vladimir Putin head of the FSB (one of the successor agencies to the KGB), the position Putin occupied until August 1999. He became a permanent member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on 1 October 1998 and its Secretary on 29 March 1999."

Did Communism Fake Its Own Death in 1991?
American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2010 | Jason McNew

In a [] 1984 book [New Lies for Old], ex-KGB Major Anatoliy Golitsyn predicted the liberalization of the Soviet Bloc and claimed that it would be a strategic deception. ..."

"Golitsyn's argument was that beginning in about 1960, the Soviet Union embarked on a strategy of massive long-range strategic deception which would span several decades and result in the destruction of Western capitalism and the erection of a communist world government."

"Golitsyn published his second book, The Perestroika Deception, after the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991. This book contained further analysis of the liberalization, in addition to previously classified memoranda submitted by Golitsyn to the CIA. The two books must be read together to get a complete picture of Golitsyn's thesis."

Russia 'to revive the KGB' after Putin wins biggest majority

Telegraph (UK) ^ | 19 September 2016 | Marc Bennetts

Russia plans effectively to revive the KGB under a massive shake-up of its security forces, a respected business daily has reported.

A State Security Ministry, or MGB, would be created from the current Federal Security Service (FSB) , and would incorporate the foreign intelligence service (SVR) and the state guard service (FSO), under the plans. It would be handed all-encompassing powers once possessed by the KGB, the Kommersant newspaper said, citing security service sources.

Like the much-feared KGB, it would also oversee the prosecutions of Kremlin critics, a task currently undertaken by the Investigative Committee, headed by Alexander Bastrykin, a former university classmate of President Putin. The Kremlin has not commented. …

JULY 2017...

Trump, in Warsaw Speech, Criticizes Russia’s ‘Destabilizing’ Role in Ukraine, Syria

The president also reaffirmed his commitment to NATO’s mutual-defense pact

Jul 6, 2017

President Trump called Russia a “destabilizing” influence in Europe and the Middle East, and urged it to “join the community of responsible nations,” in his strongest remarks yet against the regime of Vladimir Putin, whom he is scheduled to meet Friday in Hamburg for the first time.

His remarks in Warsaw’s Krasinski Square, which marks the 1944 Warsaw uprising against the Nazis, came after the U.S. agreed to sell Patriot missiles to Poland. The president also used the opportunity to reiterate the NATO commitment to mutual defense, a declaration he did not make during the NATO summit in May, prompting consternation among U.S. allies wary of Russia’s ambitions.

“To those who would criticize our tough stance, I would point out that the United States has demonstrated—not merely with its words but with its actions—that we stand firmly behind Article 5, the mutual-defense commitment,” Trump said Thursday. “Words are easy, but actions are what matters. And for its own protection, Europe, and you know this, everybody knows this, everybody has to know this, Europe must do more.”

Trump has repeatedly said NATO members must spend more on defense—a position in line with past U.S. administrations. But he has been criticized because he appeared to suggest U.S. commitment to mutual defense was predicated on its allies’ defense spending. ...”

Donald Trump: 'Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time'

Mar 13, 2014
Eun Kyung Kim: TODAY SHOW (NBC)

Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."

The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.

"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."

Soros-Funded Groups Undercutting Ukraine, Helping Russia

Drew Johnson
Aug 23, 2017

A pair of George Soros-funded NGOs are engaged in a campaign that could destabilize Ukraine and force the country to rely on its enemy, Russia, for its energy needs.

Transparency International and the Anti-Corruption Action Centre are behind political propaganda and social media attacks aimed at Burisma, a private Kiev-based natural gas company that has invested billions of dollars to dramatically increase natural gas production and helped wean Ukraine off of Russian energy imports.

Both organizations received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Soros-funded foundations in recent years.
Burisma’s owner, Nikolay Zlochevskyi, was under suspicion for corruption and tax evasion, but separate investigations in the United Kingdom and Ukraine dropped all charges against Burisma and Zlochevskyi.

Despite Burisma’s resounding victory in both the British and Ukrainian legal systems over the course of the past three years, the Anti-Corruption Action Centre engaged in a series of press releases, statements and social media posts implying Zlochevskyi and the company received favorable treatment in court due to political connections.

Earlier this year, Transparency International plastered Kiev with posters and ads claiming Ukraine’s General Prosecutor’s Office was guilty of abuse of power, and alleged Zlochevskyi’s case should not have been dropped.

Former U.S. Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Buretta, however, believes the outcome of the investigation was reasonable and correct. “The actions of the [British Office of the General Prosecutor] and those of the Ukrainian court are clear evidence of Ukraine’s commitment to the rule of law and due process — twin pillars of democracy,” Buretta stated.

Transparency International and the Anti-Corruption Action Centre also claim Burisma failed to pay appropriate taxes, even though the company pays almost $100 million in taxes a year. Burisma’s taxes fund almost 5 percent of Ukraine’s annual government spending.

Supporters of Burisma fear the unsubstantiated attacks by the Soros-funded NGOs may harm the company, undercutting Ukrainian energy independence and opening the door for Russian control in the process — a particular concern in the years since the military conflict between the two nations related to the annexation of Crimea.

“Burisma is leading a private sector that drastically boosted the domestic production in recent years — an increase of more than 30 percent in 2014 alone,” said Roman Opimakh, the executive director of the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine. “This is the perfect example of promising energy independent behavior by Ukraine that should be supported by NGOs, not criticized.”

Opimakh points out that Ukraine’s increased natural gas production, combined with increased energy imports from European Union allies, has allowed the country to stop buying natural gas from Russia...."

You have to wonder why George Soros, a supporter of an independent Ukraine and one of Putin’s biggest [supposed] adversaries would funnel his money to groups seeking to undermine that independence by by taking aim at Burisma,” said Jeff Stier, a senior fellow at the National Center for Public Policy Research and the head of the think tank’s Risk Analysis Division. “Ukraine’s energy industry is central to allowing the country to stand on its own, as a democracy, rather than deteriorating into a de facto Russian satellite state.”

Soros is no novice when it comes to deploying his charitable dollars to achieve political objectives. It’s clear that his support for these groups is serving Russian interests at the expense of democracy.

Now that he’s on notice of it, it’ll be telling to see if his foundations cut off all funding for these efforts — before he winds up further weakening Burisma, and by direct extension, Ukrainian independence.” Stier stated. ..."

Trump terminating the DoJ special counsel is the exact trap they want him to stumble into. It is so obvious that even Stevie Wonder could see it.

The Trump administration should appoint a special counsel to investigate the Uranium One scandal.

Mueller's involvement in Uranium One would neutralize him without having to actually fire him. Because he, himself, aided and abetted collusion with Russia to steal 20% of US Uranium reserves. And that's a capital offense!

I find the timing of this interesting. Actually I do not find it interesting, but rather predictable.

Every time the Uranium One scandal or the Fusion GPS matter heats up or starts to implicate the swamp,, abracadabra an anonymously sourced story on the Mueller investigation (coup d’etat, really) appears.

I don’t know whether they have “flipped” Flynn. But if they have, it’s a case of them coercing false testimony from him. Watch as the media and Dems go from condemning this guy to declaring him the hero of the century.

I like our current situation.

It could be a good situation, if there weren't so many backstabbers in the key positions of power, such as McConnell, Ryan, Roberts, and Sessions. But since they do hold so much power right now, in our Constitutional republic, unfortunately little can be trusted or assumed to go the way conservatives desire.

It is far more than we were all expecting two years ago battling the crybabies back then.

Sorry but I don't believe that's true either. There was a strong sense of hope brewing in the air as Obozo's final term was ending, and Congressional elections had been swinging our way. I supported the outsiders Cruz and Trump, in that order, and believed if we were one year into either of their terms we'd be further along than we are right now.

If Trump plays this perfectly, the District Of Criminals will never be the same.

Like most of the other happy go luckies here, you're forgetting Trump isn't King, and doesn't even seem to have control of some of his own critical departments like DoJ. Much less control of the backstabbers in control of Congress, who appear to even be willing to sacrifice their majorities in each house to block Trump's bold agenda. He may be President, but he has few friends in Washington, and little long term legislative victories in his pocket. His time there may even be cut short if we can't hold the House election line just next year.

I may sound negative but I'm actually just as hopeful as you. I just recognize that getting there won't happen by bloviating how wonderful Trump is, because our government doesn't work that way. To get there we need other outsiders like Trump in Congress, in the DoJ, etc, to ever actually clean things up. Maybe we'll get there, and maybe we have slowed if not slightly turned the direction we were heading. But it will continue to be an uphill fight, because these swamp creatures have nowhere else to go.
