This is a far cry from never seeing any .22 LR on the shelves at WalMart and only seeing it at gun shows at 15 cents a round.
Curious as to what it looks like around the nation.
.223 ammo is a bargain too. Hardly worth it to reload.
Per other family members there’s plenty of .22 on the shelves at the local big box sports and walmart.
IMO, people are feeling more secure under new WH management.
And a lot of the farmers around here are converting tomato/corn fields to sod. The existing sod farms are harvesting more than they have in years. Hopefully a sign construction and development of all types is beginning to take off again.
I havent bought any in almost a decade. Ive got a pile of 500 round bricks from back in the day. Some of them still have the price tags on them at $12.99 per.
I used to toss one or two in the cart every time I was at the sporting goods store. I toyed with the idea of getting a booth at a gun show and selling them at ridiculous prices.
But the only way I part with ammunition is by pulling the trigger.

In Reno I am seeing 22LR on Armslist.com for under 4.5 cents each, saw one about two weeks ago at about 3.75 cents.
Bass Pro shop is actually putting .22 on the shelf now instead of behind the counter.
Haven’t bought .22 long since 2013, and have only one rifle left chambered in that round.
Went to .223/5.56, .30-06, 7.62x39, .45, and 9MM.
Still have tons of .22lr that I bought 4+ years ago on sale for less than $13 for a box of 525.
Is this real ammo or that weak crap?
Still about 11-16 cents a round around here, IF you can find it.
And I quit ordering anything from Midway since they went to using google spybots to record every thing you look at on their website.
18 months ago I bought my wife a Henry .22 lever action and 5,000 rds. at 10 cents.
At her usage rate of about 200 rds. per year, we’re set even through a zombie apocalypse.
It’s now about 4.8 cents a rd.
I so happen to have a 50 rd. box of .22 out ;-) from circa 1980 for a little over 2 cents a round. Is it evah going to get this low again? ;^)
Our local Walmart still allows only 100 rounds of .22 per purchase. Rather high shooter density in this valley. Even the babies are carrying.
Wake me up when a case of 40gr Mini Mags is $225 delivered to my door.
I shoot NRA style bullseye target in the summer league at my local gun club. I favor CCI 22 L.R. Standard Velocity and while a box of 50 is still pricey, it usually available at the local stores that carry ammo. The .22 drought seems to be over.
Still can’t find CCI stingers.
Local Wal-Mart actually had an ample supply last Wednesday. An unusual event. I restrained myself and only bought half of what they had.
Prices will keep coming down......stock up while it is cheap. The idiocy of the Voting public will raise its head again. Ammo will last your lifetime and your children’s and their children’s if stored correctly.
$30 and change for a 333-round box of Federal LRHP, at the local hardware store. The local farm supply shop has been running 9mm parabellum ball ammo for under $10 a box, but not .22-yet. I'm waiting to see after the first of the New Year to see if a sale on rimfire for all those Christmas presents comes next.
FYI, those stocking up may wish to make note of two interesting container facts: As older cardboard *brick* 500-round containers become old and crumbly due to the acid content in the cardboard, they can pretty neatly be replaced with 16-ounce [empty!] peanut butter jars, which hold 500 rounds so nicely they might have been designed for the task. Those who buy poly bagged or bucketful .22 ammo may also find this info helpful.
Also: if those 500-round bricks of .22 ammo are not crumbly and deteriorating, ten of them package nicely in a ex-military M2A1 *.50 caliber* ammo can. It helps if the ammo is broken down into the 50 round boxes; it's a bit tight, but 5000 rounds will indeed fit- if they're in the cardboard 50-round boxes.
