Save those turkey bones for the soup pot! Anyone should be able to make decent homemade soup. It’s almost always better and certainly less expensive than the bought product.

Yes, you are so right.

I have a container that I keep in the freezer for leftover vegetables — 1/2 a cup of peas, for example. Always throw in chopped up celery leaves, too, after I trim a bunch of celery. I, also, sometimes save some of the cooking water from potatoes, chicken, etc. When it’s soup making time, I just defrost and throw in whatever I have accumulated in the container, along with the defrosted zip-lock bags of potato or chicken water.

My late MIL, using her mother's recipe, always used a ham bone to make a split pea soup that was just out of this world. It was a meal all by itself.
Unfortunately, my wife never picked up the tradition.
