No soup for you? Campbell plunges on poor sales
CNN ^ | November 21, 2017 | Paul R. La Monica

When the thing your company is named for is no longer selling all that well, that's a big problem. Just ask Campbell Soup, which reported lousy earnings Tuesday because of weak soup sales. Shares of Campbell Soup (CPB) plunged more than 7% after the food giant said that soup sales in the U.S. fell 9% from a year ago. The company also lowered its earnings outlook for fiscal 2018.

That response is unacceptable. No wonder their sales are dropping. Thanks for sharing.

They probably need to stop hiring libs and homosexual ad agencies since their commercials are offending half the customers. I haven’t and will not shop at Target since the whole men in the women’s rooms debates. I don’t use Tide and I’m way too old for Clearblue easy. Now I won’t ever buy Campbell’s soup and I used to buy a ton of it. Progresso it is!

I still regularly buy Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup. I often cook with it rather than take it as just soup (though I still like it in a mug for those winter days). Hey, I’m going on 67 and I’m entitled to my retro habits.

Time to boycott Campbells. They need to feel the pain of offending decent people who pay their bills.

A 9% drop in a product being sold by a company for nearly 150 years is huge.

Yes it is! Especially since Progresso has been in business for a long time too.

Save those turkey bones for the soup pot!
My late MIL, using her mother's recipe, always used a ham bone to make a split pea soup that was just out of this world. It was a meal all by itself.
Unfortunately, my wife never picked up the tradition.

My hubby loves canned soup so I buy a lot of it. I can find Campbell’s chicken noodle, tomato, etc at the Dollar Store. What I can’t find there Food Maxx usually has Some kind of Progresso on clearance for about a dollar. I’m with you. I won’t pay Over $1 for a can of stupid soup.

Exactly, I just made some fresh Chicken soup today & still have enough for today. No can taste, nor over abundance of salt. Everything fresh! Also what I have notice is that fresh soup gives you that full feeling in your tummy unlike soup cans which are so small and pricey,

if you want a cheap or thin soup, just buy the store brands and save $

if you want a good soup, there are plenty of other brands that are far better than Cbls

Most of their “soup” is over priced.
For a few cents more you can get a hearty stew.

I stopped buying Campbells condensed soups about 20 years ago, and their Chunky soups about 15 years ago. Junk food. Won’t even stock it in pantry for emergencies.

Homemade cream of tomato is much better tasting, cheaper, more nutritious and easy to make. In addition, as with any other homemade soup, one can add other ingredients or spices to taste.

Here’s a link to one simple basic recipe.

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/21796/cream-of-tomato-soup/

Once you start making you own soups, you’ll kick yourself for not not doing it earlier.

Another cheap and simple recipe is US Senate navy bean soup with ham. Good cold weather lunch course. Canned or dried beans, both work well.

I buy Progresso or the store brand. Also like the packs you make by adding water. The potato cheddar is great. I add a can of diced potatoes and it’s really good.

I didn’t even know you could use water to make Campbell’s tomato soup. I’m sure I have never had it.

When I was a child (60s) you could open a can of Campbell’s tomato and turn the can upside without the contents coming out. That’s how thick it was. Today it’s as thin as broth.
