Franken Reportedly Will Not Resign

Despite calls from his Republican and Democratic colleagues alike to step down after allegations of sexual misconduct, Sen. Al Franken is reportedly refusing to go anywhere.

When his hometown paper The Star Tribune asked over the weekend whether he planned to resign, a spokesperson for the Minnesota Democrat said, “no.”

“He is spending time with his family in Washington, D.C., and will be through the Thanksgiving holiday,” the staffer told the paper by text, “and he’s doing a lot of reflecting.”

Sports broadcaster Leeann Tweeden accused Franken of forcibly kissing and groping her without her consent. She even tweeted a photo of the groping incident from a 2006 USO tour in Afghanistan. The then-comedian appeared grabbing her breasts over her flak vest while she was sleeping on a military aircraft.

I’ve decided it’s time to tell my story. #MeToohttps://t.co/TqTgfvzkZg— Leeann Tweeden (@LeeannTweeden) November 16, 2017

She also said while they were practicing a sketch he kissed her despite her protesting.

Franken himself and his Senate colleagues have recommended a Senate Ethics Committee investigation of his behavior.

“I understand why we need to listen to and believe women’s experiences,” Franken said in a statement. “I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.”

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Republican Sen. Tim Scott agreed an ethics investigation should begin.

“We certainly should start the process,” Scott said. “This is absolutely the right starting point. All sexual harassment is inexcusable. And everyone should be punished at the same level.”

He should not resign.

I am no fan of the man, to put it mildly, but this nonsense about sexual misconduct more than ten years ago has got to stop.

I’ve said for decades that if men had a 300 year lifespan that our founding fathers would be ineligible for modern public office because they owned slaves. And that would be a travesty.

Liberals have no conscience, thus no need for regrets...and no need to resign. Franken: a seven letter word for fool.

I don’t like Franken. Not one bit. I don’t think he should resign. Being boorish isn’t a crime.

Clinton PERJURED himself. He also obstructed justice. He SHOULD have resigned.

No proof of Moore’s supposed crimes exists. The only evidence (if you want to call it that) is unsworn media testimony of alleged events 38 to 40 years ago. Moore should NOT drop out.

We are going WAY overboard folks.

The New Franken Standard - If your a conservative and all your accuser has is allegations than off with your head. If your a libtard and your accuser has allegations with the pictures to back it up - than a simply apology will do.

Yeah but look at the double standard: Can you imagine the hell that would erupt if that was a photo of Roy Moore grabbing her boobs or Trump?

Rats don’t resign, and The Rat Franken shouldn’t either.

I want him around as someone our side can point to endlessly.

He’s the new Ted Kennedy without the dead girl.

A second woman has come forward and said that Franken groped her at the Minnesota State Fair in 2010.

Now, here’s what’s significant. This is not just another ‘he said, she said’ situation. The woman said that she posted about the groping on Facebook back when it happened. If that posting gets released, Franken will be in an indefensible position.

And all those years ago, men had a sense of honor. Most men who are worthy of the name would resign if some shameful act was brought to light - or keeping their position meant dragging the country into shame.

Case in point, Richard Nixon, who resigned rather than have the country go through a horribly divisive impeachment process.

Franken Reportedly Will Not Resign

So tie the entire Democrat Party to him, and let them sink like an anvil.

Yep, think of those on the "right" who've had to call it quits:

Senators Larry Craig (foot-tapping!) and Bob Packwood; Speaker-to-be Bob Livingston; presidential candidate Herman Cain and many more that escape memory (although being Minnesotan I haven't forgotten Jon Grunseth).

Then, of course, the nearly successful high-tech lynching of Clarence Thomas, the Access Hollywood October Surprise of 2016 and the current hit-job on Roy Moore.

It's a tried-and-true strategy by the left to eliminate their opposition.

Meanwhile, predators like Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, the Kennedy boys and Al Franken not only get a pass, but are revered by the left.
