The USS Benfold, a guided-missile destroyer, sustained minor damage when a tugboat lost propulsion and drifted into the ship, the Navy said. No one was injured on either vessel and an initial assessment of the damage showed that the destroyer only sustained minimal damage including scrapes.
But the accident comes at a time when the Navy's 7th Fleet and the U.S. Pacific Command have come under increased scrutiny after several deadly collisions in the region earlier this year. Could be wrong, but my gut tells me it was minimal damage consisting of damage limited to scrapes.
Naturally, this is linked to the other more serious incidents to drive the "pattern" theory in order to besmirch our NAVY at much as possible.
Sure would be nice if our media would link Leftist criminal activity in a manner like this. (not gonna happen)
That criminal activity is their sacred cow.

I’m just curious what kind of military exercise would put our destroyers close enough to Japanese tug boats to get hit.

But the accident comes at a time ...But nothing! This was a minor accident and the fault was with the tug boat. No resemblance to those previous incidents.

A docking exercise in port, or did they neglect to say that in this article? The last I knew, tug boats were not part of a carrier battle group.

You mean, like nearly 50 women complaining about Bill Clinton making unsolicited sexual advances including rape over several decades, including the years he was in government office? A "pattern" that is denied by democrats? Leftist criminal activity is always ignored by the media. For right-linked activities, "patterns" are invented.

This seems to be the fifth test of Naval Ram technology this year, a few more and they may master it!
This would be big indeed, no successful rammings since CSS Virginia back in 1862 are known.
This is likely our answer to short fat man Kim, and he gotta be worried.

It's serious enough for a movie. Stop dismissing it. The media tell us it's more important than the Al Franken scandal, Hillary's Russia scandal, or even any good news about President Trump and our economy. Would NBC News lie to us?

Yeah, I don’t think it was in the article. Even in a docking exercise, why would a Japanese tug be allowed to get that close? Nevermind, I’m sure there are good reasons. I’ll just learn by reading the rest of the thread.

The former Cpt of USS Benfold wrote a book about it: Turn your ship around! (Abrasoff IIRC)

Who appointed/promoted the Benfold’s commanding officer? Obama? Well, there you go.
To: Psalm 144
No, 5th Fleet gladly surrenders their vessels to the navies of adversaries. 7th fleet is just a demotion derby on the high seas.
