The military doesn’t draft anyone. A Draft Board of your neighbors and fellow citizens does.

In the mid 1960’s my mom said the same thing when three of her son’s were drafted.

The U.S. government has destroyed any credibility it ever had to compel its citizens to serve in the military.

This idea that the Federal government could draft people to fight military campaigns to prop up Islamic governments in Third World sh!t holes is pathetic.

“I also think there are prices too high to pay to save the United States. Conscription is one of them. Conscription is slavery, and I don't think that any people or nation has a right to save itself at the price of slavery for anyone, no matter what name it is called. We have had the draft for twenty years now; I think this is shameful. If a country can't save itself through the volunteer service of its own free people, then I say: Let the damned thing go down the drain!” ― Robert A. Heinlein

Arguably the DRAFT, which dictated the course of my life, is MOOT.

By that I mean, Saddam Hussein learned that MASSED armies are impossible to defend against a killing machine like the US Military. And, the USM employed massive restraint!

So, if MASS armies are no longer possible given modern warfare then the DRAFT is just another irrelevant subject for politicians and feminist’s to pontificate about.

The Draft, or Selective Service, is the way Congress has set up calling out the Militia for Federal Service.

It makes sense for this duty to fall on all citizens equally, men and women (and some who ain’t so sure) in return for the rights, privileges and immunities of Citizenship.

Personally, I would support compulsory service for all citizens.
Could be a plan that would allow persons to take that service between the ages of 18 and 25, with the choice of three years of civil government service or two years of military service, subject to the needs and assignments of either of those two choices.
We will need to review other things...like VA services. I’m a US Army veteran, but I don’t require access currently to the VA healthcare offerings, for instance. I did take advantage of the educational benefits available to me, and the VA home loan guarantee program helped buy our first home.
I believe a compulsory service program is required to help reclaim nationalism and patriotism, which will be necessary if we are to assure the future of this grand experiment.

My wife and I are both Air Force veterans with three kids who are now adults.

We believe that the best thing for the country and for the kids coming of age nowadays is to reinstitute the military draft....for both males and females. Say two years of mandatory active duty training and service.

This would provide the country with a vast supply of trained military forces when it needs it.

It would provide young adults an experience where they can become more mature, trained, disciplined and motivated to take into their adult lives.

It would also give everyone a sense of duty to their country and what it means to share a sacrifice for the common good of your fellow citizens.

We think this is a great idea to help MAGA.

The draft is a form of “involuntary servitude” to the state.

An argument tried many times in the past, and the Supreme Court has ruled that conscription isn't involuntary servitude.

Additionally, because any power not specifically given to the federal government is reserved for states and the people, it follows that the federal government lacks the constitutional authority to coerce individuals to fight its wars and lacks the authority to facilitate that coercion, too.

The 10th Amendment doesn't contain the word "specifically". And Article II gives Congress the power to establish an Army and a Navy. Conscription is a way of doing that.
