Well, I guess the people who do this professionally figure out what works.
But people are different, and I would probably take the question literally; and refuse to answer either way.

Did you watch any rallies.......or attend one....?
People are reluctant to state their true interests to a pollster
But given a "nonthreatening" alternative
like:...so who do you think your neighbor would vote for....would jump on this question and answer "Trump"
