Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) faced swift and bipartisan condemnation Thursday and a call for an ethics investigation after a Los Angeles model and broadcaster accused him of forcibly kissing and groping her in 2006.
After originally issuing a brief apology and saying he didnt recall the incident the way Leeann Tweeden did, Franken issued a longer apology Theres no excuse and welcomed the ethics investigation, saying he will gladly cooperate.
The top Democrat, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), said he hopes there will soon be one by the Senate Ethics Committee, which has the authority to recommend expelling a senator. Sexual harassment is never acceptable and must not be tolerated, Schumer said in a statement.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is dealing with the political fallout from allegations of sexual misconduct by an Alabama GOP Senate candidate, immediately called on the ethics committee to investigate Franken. McConnell has also not ruled out investigations into Roy Moore if he wins his special election next month despite Republican leaders calls for him to drop out of the race.

Calling for an ethics committee investigation is smoke and mirrors and means nothing from what I understand. They can only really look at what was done after someone is a senator. So, so what if they call for the committee to look at Franken. "The Senate Select Committee on Ethics is authorized to receive and investigate allegations of improper conduct which may reflect upon the Senate, violations of law, violations of the Senate Code of Official Conduct and violations of rules and regulations of the Senate; recommend disciplinary action; recommend additional Senate rules or regulations to insure proper standards of conduct; and report violations of law to the proper federal and state authorities."
The argument will be that what Franken did and what Moore did, even though it occurred before either man was elected to the Senate, does "reflect upon the Senate" and therefore falls within their jurisdiction.

Call for Franken to resign, and you put tremendous pressure on him and the Dems, especially with everything they've said about Moore. And if Franken did resign then wouldn't that pretty much force Moore to withdraw? Or, if Franken waits until after the election, resign as well?

Ethics? They are going to determine if it is ethical to grab a woman’s breast when she is sleeping?

I was stunned at hearing about Al Franklin on Rush today because I had a dream yesterday that several women came out and accused Al Franklin including some from the SNL days. But there is more - In my dream Chuck Schummer also was accused and one woman had DNA evidence against him. Five more democrat U.S. Senators were also accused of bad deeds including a female senator who was found guilty of embezzling $5 Million over the past 10 years. These 5 democrats and 1 RINO were all held accountable as part of an election October surprise. A few of the democrats were defeated by African American women republicans! Also in my dream, Trump wins re-election!
Will the rest of my dream come true?

“very boorish behavior but not illegal”. Seriously? At a minimum it qualifies as assault, and potentially, battery.

Investigation? Why waste the time and resources?
Any investigation should take all of two questions: 1) Is the photo real? (yes) and 2) Did Ms. Tweeden consent? (no)
Guilty as charged. Expulsion from Senate, let civil authorities take him out in handcuffs.
