why do we believe finding life on other planets will benefit us??
What we need to do first is make sure that the planet we are investigating belongs to the Federation. Then we can proceed.
If we find ourselves looking at a planet inhabited by/controlled by the Reptilian Empire, we will find ourselves in deep, deep doo-doo.
