Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday publicly floated the idea of getting Attorney General Jeff Sessions to take his old Senate seat, as Republicans continue to seek alternatives to Judge Roy Moore.
McConnell made the comments to the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council while talking about who could mount a successful write-in campaign, like Sen. Lisa Murkowski did in Alaska in 2010. McConnell said she was popular in the state and was universally well-known, qualities that Sessions has in Alabama.
"The name being most often discussed may not be available, but the Alabamian who would fit that standard would be the attorney general," McConnell said. "He's totally well-known and is extremely popular in Alabama."
"That obviously would be a big move for him and for the president," McConnell said. He said President Trump is discussing what to do in the Alabama race "in great detail" as he wraps up his Asia trip.
McConnell conceded that he isn't sure Sessions would come back after leaving earlier this year to take over as head of the Department of Justice. Some reports were already saying Monday that Sessions had no interest.

I think Sessions in the Senate where he can’t do much harm (he is a pretty reliable vote) vs. losing a GOP seat (might love Moore, not looking good in his winning) is a pretty fair deal - considering we can him out of Justice and get an effective Attorney General.
Been saying that awhile. After a few years of complete democrat rule the people would be ready to rise up. And like you said, as it is now the Republicans are blamed because they volunteer.

Yep. I can hear the backroom talk, in retrospect:
McConnell: "Hey, Jeff, Trump seems to be getting traction. You mind winging in there and pretending to support him? He'll likely give you a decent appointment that you can use to sabotage him."
Sessions: "Wah, glad to he'p out our cause, Mitchy, old boy!"
Shifting the Senate to even more Swamp control, and DOJ further Prog protective.

Mitch is intent on electing Democrats and losing the Senate. Then he can continue to do nothing but with zero expectations or scrutiny.
It splits the vote and the RATS take the seat.
The GOP has two possibilities for keeping the seat:
1- governor postpones this election
2 - GOP judge shops and files suit that voters are being disenfranchised if this election goes forward
I don’t believe Sessions could be guaranteed a win in Alabama. Alabamans now see Sessions for who he really is.
I guess he’s fine with all the false racist accusations thrown at him. In fact, in his own words “I have no reason to doubt” those accusing him of being a racist.
They are going to screw around and lose this senate seat.
McConnell has got to go.

After what was said at his confirmation hearing for AG, If I were Jeff Sessions I would tell all my former Senate colleagues” to GFY.
Sessions is with Trump 100% to drain the Swamp.
He threaded the needle very carefully today, not giving an inkling of what is coming.
But he let everyone know there are active investigations in leaking, Hillary’s emails, the Clinton Foundation, and Uranium One.
McConnell’s brief stint in the US Army where he got sprung for a bogus eye issue during a hot war needs to be examined.
Allegations are that he groped another soldier in the shower.

In recent days I’ve been reading articles about the judges Trump has been appointing. There are a number of them, and they are good.
The Senate held up a lot of nominations, to create a number of openings when Obama left office.
We wouldn’t get a one of these good judges if the Dems controlled the Senate, and they would make sure unqualified Leftists (and worse) were the only ones that could be approved.
We’re definitely in a world of hurt here, but the old proverbial comments about “it could be worse” are still true > IMO.
Mitch McConnell is the perfect example of the Peter Principle. He has risen up the ranks to the level of his greatest incompetence. He is incapable of leadership and good decision making and is just in a CYA mode.

Senate WILL NEVER appoint Roy Moore to AG position, this is BS and a ploy to trick the voters of Alabama!!! Roy Moore NEEDS to stand his ground!!!! Draining the swamp is NOT for the faint of heart this IS the Dems MO and is definitely recognizable for ANY AND ALL voters by now!!! The citizens of Alabama are a STRONG RED bunch and they KNOW judge Moore better than the rest of the country, they WILL see this for what it is just as they did with our POTUS!!! Trump took Alabama by 20 points even with all the BS thrown at him, the fine folks of Alabama WILL do the same for Moore, they WILL GIVE Aldred and her ilk the middle finger!! Sessions has turned out to be the worst AG possible, Trump should have left him in the Senate HOWEVER Moore winning this election will be a HUGE middle finger to the BASTARD establishment!!! I hate to use this worn out critic...but, “Read My Lips” Mitch McConnell. “An American Citizen (Roy Moore) is assumed innocent until proven guilty by his fellow Americans within a jury.” McConnell, you might want to read these words in the law books of our nation.
At the moment, Mr. McConnell all, the People of Alabama have is a simple, “She said, He said, back and forth”. and...sir, you have no grounds whatsoever to interfere with the election process in the State of Alabama, until Judge, Roy Moore had been found guilty as charged by an Alabama jury of his peers.
So....Mitch McConnell it is none of your business. This is an issue that only the legal voters in the state of Alabama can decide, after all the facts are revealed in a legitimate courtroom trail of Mr. Moore and his alleged actions!!! Other then that trail/jury process, there is nothing to talk about. End of story!!!
