Cruz pulls support from Moore: Allegations merit ‘criminal prosecution’ if true

Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday withdrew his support from Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore, saying allegations of sexual misconduct should be looked at by prosecutors.

“As it stands, I can’t urge the people of Alabama to support a campaign in the face of these charges without serious, persuasive demonstration that the charges are not true,” the Texas Republican told reporters, according to a Texas Tribune reporter.

“Both last week and this week, there are serious charges of criminal conduct that if true, not only make him unfit to serve in the Senate but merit criminal prosecution,” he added.

Good for you, Ted. Stand on your principles.

As if the ineligible to be POTUS Teddy Cruz would ever have supported the "birther" Judge Roy Moore.

To me, Senators Lee and Cruz, the two leading most conservatives in Congress, more and more appear respectively to be tools of the Romney and the Bush Family wings of the GOPe.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. If he were a smart man he would keep his mouth shut.

Now this surprised me.......hummm......Cruz is playing the role of “Peter”.....standing far off and warming his hands in the courtyard with those who oppose MOORE.....

“if” its true...Cruz said.....what happened to innocent until proven guilty????

Ted Cruz is a smart guy, just smart enough to continually outsmart himself.

Exactly. GOP plantation “principled conservatism” is all controlled opposition and beltway theater. The give away is that when the bullets start flying for real you can always count on the “principled conservatives” to go MIA.

I am close to wishing the NORKs would drop a nuclear bomb on DC when congress is in session...and Trump and his family is somewhere else of course.

Yes, this is as awful a wish as can be made. But the American people have only enimies in congress, no friends. They are all wicked and treacherous. DC needs a Sodom and Gomorrah style house cleaning

Cruz is losing any support that I had for him. Has he become establishment? Sure smells like it.

Good question.... How is it that in today’s politics a woman can claim sexual misconduct against a man 40 years ago, without proof, and the burden of proof is placed on a candidate to prove his innocence or be forced to withdraw?

Would this not further evidence that the Founding Fathers could have been right not to give women the vote since it appears now all these females keep coming out of the woodwork at election times...with a lot of help from disgruntled women.

A beginning to think it’s all about gender differences and a lot of bitter women ganging up on men to destroy them.....they’ve been at it for awhile.

It is simply the California playbook that was used to steal the State of California, brought out to the national level. Short of murder, there really should be no 40 year old crime or accusation that hurts someone’s chances to be an elected official. If that was still a part of their character, the accusations would not be 40 years old.
