Some weeks ago, former President George W. Bush delivered a speech attacking the incumbent president, Donald Trump, and his supporters. That was the unmistakable thrust of Mr. Bushs remarks, in the apprehension of virtually everyone, even though he chose not to mention President Trump by name. The address consisted largely of elliptical references to sins committed against democracy, with the guilty parties left unidentified. But all of the sins referenced -- bigotry, white supremacism, nativism, protectionism, isolationism, casual cruelty, Russian interference in the last election -- sounded like liberal talking points. This address, given at an assemblage entitled Spirit of Liberty: At Home, In the World in New York City, was not criticism of the Democrats.
The former President, of course, has grounds for personal animosity against Trump. As a candidate, Mr. Trump attacked the Bush Administration and, in particular, the Iraq War. He was not kind to Jeb Bush when they were competing for the Republican nomination. And yet, President Bushs two current friends, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, denigrated him often enough. And their supporters in Congress, the press, Hollywood, and everywhere else reviled him. More significantly, this is about the future of the American people, not the personal pique of the famous and powerful.
For those of us who venerate President Bushs leadership in the months after September 11, there is no pleasure in taking exception to what he chooses to say now. The former President, of course, is perfectly free to denigrate the present Republican Administration, having uttered not a word against his Democratic predecessor or successor, whose company he now keeps with manifest cordiality. Mr. Bush apparently deems uplifting the sight of him associating with such men as Bill Clinton and Barack Obama,

Exactly
Not to my recollection. I think GW followed the tradition of past presidents not criticizing current presidents.
And to think I was a huge GW supporter. Now, not so much. I think they really banked on Jeb winning and now harbor hatred for the man who defeated him.
Jeb, had you not let Terri Schiavo die, you might have had a chance.
I made calls to his office from Canada begging him to step in and stop her starvation and death. Many, many people did too.
But he forgot that the Republican base is pro-life.
Oh, and he might not have said "please clap" and stand on his tippy toes. ;)
By design, to the establishment it was “heads we win, tails you lose”.
The old Republican party is dead, they just don’t know it yet.
Hitler’s banker.
We finally wised up when Yebby tried to con us.
Yup. Felt good seeing him defeated.
You got that right. Dana Perrino is a moronic sycophant and a sneaky anti-Trumper.
One doesn’t have to ask a person how ignorant they are, all one has to do is wait the moron will tell you how ignorant they are. The USA just endured 8 years of the worst species ever to tarnish the White House halls and Bush never uttered a word
I guess GHWB with the groping allegations wouldn’t be too effective railing against Judge Moore. Some might even snicker at the hypocrisy.
Bush’s speech was typical globalist spit up. Butthurt over his weakazz tard of a brother getting thumped by the Donald and lashing out.
America has suffered 28 straight years of defective presidents (41-4 yrs, 42-8 yrs, 43-8 yrs, 44-8 yrs). It’s amazing that we’ve survived the unrelenting onslaught on our values, our culture, our borders and our Constitution. Or have we?
Its all about cementing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) in place.
They have been importing foreigners to steal our country from US.
They desperately do not want US to be able to restore the rule of law and reverse the demographic changes they have instituted through non-enforcement of laws and borders.
They invited 30 million people here to change the country against the will of the citizens and they do not want us sending them home.
They will do whatever it takes to keep us from electing anyone who sides with the citizens and the rule of law.
What they really dont want is for us to keep our country.
We need another political party.
The GOP is practically dead to me.
George P. Bush is probably the real reason the GOP went along with the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
He is not a natural born citizen, either, just like Obama.
His mother was still a Mexican citizen when he was born.
I guess “Compassionate Conservatism” dictates that real Conservatives are no good....Bush gave us Obama and now he’s doubling down on it. Seems like all the GOPe/RINOs hate actual Conservatives as much as the Dems/LSM do.<p.As President (#MAGA) Trump would say, “So sad”....
I venerate nothing that W did
Yeb was supposed to be the Designated Loser, like McCain and Romney before him, he was not going to win.
His job was to lose graciously to his “sister-in-law.”
Everything is about preventing the citizens from keeping their country.
They intend to only allow us to vote for open borders/amnesty candidates, like it was before Trump broke the Bush blockade at the RNC.
The Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA) and protecting the 30 million people they invited here against our will is the most important thing to the Uniparty.
It doesn't do any good if some voters vote for a candidate of a particular third party, others vote for a candidate of another third party and so on.
Worse than that, they knew the Kenyanesian Usurper was not eligible, but because George P Bush was similarly ineligible, they wanted the natural born citizen requirement eliminated.
How can they be butthurt about Yeb not getting to be the Designated Loser, but adopt Clinton who defeated Daddy Bush and denied him a second term?
It’s all about the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).
They do not want US to restore the rule of law and send home the 30 million people they invited here against the will of the citizens.
Remains to be seen.
Trump has given us one more chance to keep our country.
We MUST Cantorize the weasels in Congress.
