morning... been a rough week and this morning posting was a royal PIA for some reason..had to dump about 6 pix/commentary as the HTML wouldn’t gel.
I also apologize for missing the Ping on Thursday... Wed/Thur/Fri were exceptionally bad days... I noted no one missed a beat. The regulars know how to find us!
Thanks as usual for all the wonderful sharing here on the thread and your pix, commentary, observations, news... Love coming here even when I feel pretty rotten along the way.
FLOTUS skipping the Vietnam summit...wondering if Melania just figured she had been away from Barron long enough. It is too bad he wasn’t able to be on this trip.. tutors work and there was enough interaction with children that he would have fit right in. Melania taking her parents would be fine with all of us to supervise for official adult functions
Heaven knows Michelle had her parents and a huge entourage of friends with her on EVERY trip. The left was fine with that
Thank you for all your work on these threads. I do not post often but always read the threads.
I’m not sure other leaders brought their spouses to the summit either. I was thinking that Barron would have enjoyed the trip too, but there could be any number of reasons he didn’t go. I’m sure there will be other occasions that he will be able to accompany his parents on trips over the next eight years.
Good Pictures at this link. Pictures in below link also.
Awkward Apec fashion: what world leaders wore in pictures
Quote from bottom link: "World leaders have Bill Clinton to thank for starting the annual tradition back in 1993, when he hosted the summit in Seattle and gifted world leaders in attendance with matching bomber jackets."
"The next year, the tables turned on Clinton and it was his turn to don a traditional Indonesian shirt selected by the summit's subsequent host country."
"President Barack Obama made no secret of the fact that he wasn't such a fan of the tradition with his decision to nix it when it was his turn to host the APEC summit on his home turf of Hawaii in 2011, after previously threatening in jest that he would make world leaders wear aloha shirts or grass skirts."
President Trump was styling and profiling in matching blue shirt at APEC
