California Republicans are about to vote for a major tax increase, on California Republicans. Thats what will happen when they pass the Congressional Republican tax reform bill that does away with the state and local tax deduction to your federal taxes, widely used by middle class Californians.

I have no interest in subsidizing leftists/Californians who, with such deductions, get to pass on to the rest of the country at least part of the cost of their socialism.
As the article notes, the people who are being taxed more are California middle class Republicans, who didn’t vote for California’s socialism. GOP in Congress wants them to pay more to the federal government, instead of cutting federal spending
Jack Kemp called the pre-Reagan Republicans, the tax collectors for liberal government. GOP is now returning to that role by raising taxes instead of cutting spending
I am against any tax bill which increases the number of citizens who pay no income tax. Everyone should have a skin in the game.
The real story here is that the GOP has no interest in reining in out-of-control Federal spending. Their spending habits have forced them to accept the status quo on the revenue side, or adopt a “tax reform” package that has almost no constituency behind it.
Flattening the tax brackets and eliminating deductions would go a long way toward fixing a lot of the problems in the U.S. tax code.
Did you read the article? The people getting hit are Republicans who voted AGAINST Jerry Brown and high taxes. Their party in DC is now punishing them in its liberal drive to raise more tax money to pay for the federal monstrosity. Both parties in DC are tax and spend parties That’s now clear
Instead, they seem to be bent on ADDING more tax brackets!
They’re not flattening the brackets are they? They’re just eliminating deductions to Hoover more of people’s income into the federal treasury. Just like Democrats
Eliminating the tax deduction on taxes especially you already paid is taxing money you’ve already paid as taxes. Double taxation is grossly unfair and not something I voted for.
Not only that, but this will devastate the housing market.
I rather they keep the current tax law, bad as it is.
Exactly.
GOP in Congress is busying itself raising taxes on Republicans in California, but has no time for any bills that would protect legal Californians from illegal criminals and sanctuary city insanity
GOP worthless
Tax reform bill that does away with the state and local tax deduction to your federal taxes, widely used by middle class Californians.
However the grand plan will give the state more money for entitlements to the illegals all dots are connected,
“I have no interest in subsidizing leftists/Californians”
We’re not asking you to.
If fact, we’re no even asking to be relieved of supporting YOUR state.
California sends more money to DC than it gets back in Federal expenditures of any kind. It’s a net donor state that help fund the largess of many, many red states.
Given the enormity of the CA tax base, that excess is likely enough to completely fund more than one state below the Mason-Dixon line.
so Republicans in Congress are raising taxes on Republicans in California to give more money to illegals in California?
“The reason the taxes will be so high is because the state’s taxes are so high.”
The reason my net taxes are going up significantly is because the Republicans in Congress designed a tax plan that has me pay for cuts elsewhere.
That's why the biggest "donor" states are invariably the ones with the highest state and local taxes.
Make all of the illegals pay taxes. Problem solved.
