An alarming discovery coming out of City Schools.
Project Baltimore analyzed 2017 state testing data and found one-third of High Schools in Baltimore, last year, had zero students proficient in math.
But that’s not all we found. In the midst of that troubling number, there are some bright spots.
Most mornings, at Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys, start the same way – with students chanting the school’s motto in the gym.
“There’s an urgency about the work we’re doing,” said Jack Pannell, the school’s founder.
That urgency was born out of need.
“Nine out of ten black boys in Baltimore City are not reading at grade level,” added Pannell.
That grim statistic, lead Pannell to open his north Baltimore school three years ago. As the name implies, in these halls, there are no girls.

Why bother. Smartphones & computers have calculators on them. At work Excel spreadsheets or the company computer can do all the math you need and anything super difficult there is always AI. Even at the only jobs remaining, the cash register function on the in-store check out device will figure the change. Math is no longer necessary. /sarc

The affirmative action policies of the past several decades clearly indicate liberals never thought blacks were equal to whites; the fact that they STILL have those policies (and blacks are even further marginalized) really drives home the point. Without government jobs and fake token positions created in the private sector, black unemployment would be probably be north of 90%. 50 years ago I’m sure it would have been a quarter of that.
So many democrat programs and solutions depend on having a population that doesn’t understand match. They just need to figure out how to replicate this “success” across the country.
Their free 0bama phone has a calculator in it who needs to learn math ???.
When uneducated “teachers” get the position because of skin/politics, this is what you get - then they claim it’s racist to expect people of color to actually learn anything - irony abounds.
You really see the impact of this when cities try to lure businesses; they often offer tax incentives, but these come with a price - including hiring x% of your workforce from city residents. When cities have no viable workforce, the companies have a hard time meeting that requirement - and an even harder time convincing competent people to commute into the city to do the real work.
Many cities (outside of ports/transit hubs) have become obsolete; the free market has spoken.
