The California NAACP is coming after a new symbol of American heritage for its “racism.”
The Star-Spangled Banner.
According to SFGate.com, the national anthem is a “racist song” and the NAACP wants to push state lawmakers to change it.
Alice Huffman, the president of the California chapter of the NAACP, said the song is “racist” and that it “doesn’t represent our community. It’s anti-black people.”
The cites the song’s third verse, which is usually not sang, as evidence of its racist overtones. The third verse includes a line that says, “no refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave.”

Personally, I think the NAACP should win this one. We can replace the song with something enlightening and inclusive, maybe from Snoop Dog. /s

I know they teach neither reading comprehension nor history in the public schools anymore, but this isn’t that hard... did they read the entire stanza, or just the line with the trigger word “slave” in it?
The verse is speaking about how there is no refuge for those who would seek prevent our new country from rising... how their blood would flow in the vane attempt.
The British employed hired mercenaries and slaves as fighters... thus “hirelings and slaves.”
The freakin verse is talking about the British... not us... and certainly not the slaves in America at the time!!

It would be easier and much more appreciated if we could eliminate the NAACP .

When a prominent member of the NAACP makes announcements for a supposed “infringement” or “attack” upon their heritage, the first thing I look for in the member of the NAACP is malfeasance or embezzlement of the NAACP funds. It is the MO of the members of the NAACP when they are committing a criminal offense to attack some heritage of the US or the Confederacy to defray attention from their own deplorable actions. I highly recommend looking into the personal finances of this Alice Huffman because she is exhibiting the classic attitude and symptoms of her criminal predecessors.
