The handover would follow the arrests of 11 princes and four ministers in an anti-corruption crackdown which has been referred to a power grab.
Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal who holds stakes in Twitter and Citigroup was among those locked up when the five-star Ritz Carlton was transformed into a prison.

From what little I can glean, it’s good. Terrorist financiers are being eliminated, apparently.
The new crown prince (soon to be king) better have super reliable personal security.
It may be good. In essence they want to go to a new form of government instead of family rule.
DJT has been egging them on.
Ruler to be has rounded up one of the four branches of House of Saud. The branch who do not like Trump but which is connected to Bush (911) Obama (college education) and the CF. They are being tried for corruption , money laundering etc etc etc.
They are worth trillions that could be used as a nestegg for the newly modernized SA government
You decide:
I’ve met his older brother Sultan, who is head of tourism (also flew on Shuttle).
It is a very, very good thing - for KSA, for MENA, and for the world. This is fundamental, profound change. If successful, KSA do a 180 degree turn from funding and spreading wahhabism / Islamoterror - to fighting it.
Amazing. Very dangerous path for the House of Sa’ud, and for the Crown Prince. But fortune favors the bold.

“Is this a good or bad thing?”
It sure is a big thing - like never before in the history of this Saudi monarchy.
The first Saudi King, Abdul Aziz, cemented his control by marrying into all the major tribes. He fathered over 100 children, so every tribe had a Prince/Princess who was also in the Saud family. It was good for initially pacifying the tribes, but now there are over 1,000 Princes/Princesses, and every Tribe or faction would like one of theirs on the throne.
The way they have been choosing the next King is no longer sustainable. The first King’s surviving sons used to agree among themselves who was next, but they are dying out, and it is time to pass the throne to next generation. No way that hundreds (or thousands) of descendants will be able to calmly agree which one will get a winner-take-all prize. Just look how small families can be torn apart fighting over an inheritance.
The new guy who is taking over (called MBS, for short), is saying that he is going to modernize Saudi Arabia, convert the country to moderate islam, and form a new social contract with the citizens of Saudi Arabia.
If he successfully consolidates absolute power, and is sincere about eradicating islamic extremists, then this is about the best thing possible for fighting terrorist jihadis worldwide.
It is also possible though, that MBS is just putting out this moderate islam message right now to gain support from the US and the West (and a lot of Saudi domestic opinion), while he makes his push for power. It is possible that once his power is secure, that he will continue using the extremists just like his predecessors.
So far, it seems like the new guy (MBS) is really going to reform the extreme islam promoted in Saudi Arabia, so it seems like a good thing.
No matter what MBS would like to do, the conditions that Saudi Arabia faces seem to have fundamentally changed - oil alone can no longer pay the countries bills, the military threat from Iran is growing critical, and the Saudi population has shifted in its demographics and attitudes. Saudi Arabia is going to have to change - if leadership can’t do it systematically, it will happen chaotically.
Do they pay the Ritz to use the big ballroom as a prison?
Ruler-to-be is also close with Jared Kushner and Potus has great respect for him.
Events in KSA are a preview of what will happen in the USA.
The new Attorney General of Saudi Arabia called the recent mass arrests “Phase One”.
According to the article, Iran would not be happy with him as King, which is just about all I need to know to look at this as a good thing.
“From what little I can glean, its good. Terrorist financiers are being eliminated, apparently.”
That is how I see it. Part of the Trump doctrine.
And apparently one of the terrorist financiers being scheduled for elimination is Iran.
“Is this a good or bad thing?”
All I can say and will always say, Never Ever Trust A Muslim!
Yep, Today’s Muslim Ally becomes Tomorrow’s Muslim Enemy.
True!
