Live Election Report From Virginia
Posted on 11/07/2017 10:38:40 AM PST by SarahPalin2012
I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.

I’d have to know his real name.
I already get a vote. I don’t live in VA, but my daughter does and she asked who she should vote for.
She may be in line right now. Just got done with work.

Gillespie is better than a RAT...but am I the only person who thinks he is the Repub version of Terry Mcauliffe?

I see why you’re making the comparison, but big difference between a Republican version of T McAuliffe and Dem version of McAuliffe.

That won’t happen... They’ll run another RINO because the GOPe hasn’t figured it out... and another loss, won’t teach them...

If the R wins, it is almost 100% because of that flagrantly racist ad put out by that “Latino” group..... That ad probably did for Gillespie something he could never do on his own... motivate the new MAGA voters to show up and vote for him....
Not so much because they like him, but because they are sick of being called racists!! They will show up to give a big EFF YOU to the folks who created such ads. Democrats are stupid... nothing will galvanize support against you like calling those who disagree with you names.

The fact that wasn't lost on conservatives in VA is that the ad wasn't an attack on Gillespie, it was an attack on conservative voters. We got punched in the face with that ad and we're fighting back.

Bad weather in Va. That should help. Liberals are too lazy to go out in bad weather. Yep. Don't want to get their hair extensions and $4,000 custom wheels wet.

I'm concerned about absentee ballots as well. I've seen turnout numbers on a few blue precincts where overall turnout was up from 2013, but in-person turnout was DOWN. So the increase was due to absentee / early voting, which as I understand usually favors democrat candidates.
That being said, my own precinct is one of the many in NoVA in which the dem state delegate is running unopposed and in which republicans did not even bother to show up to hand out sample ballots (dems did). Turnout seemed pretty low to me.
Mrs. daltec and I went to vote at lunch time. There were many open parking spots, we walked right in and directly up to the check-in, and I only saw about 4 or 5 other people voting, even though there must have been 30 booths. Walked right up to the scanners and then right out.
As the saying goes, republicans win on election day. So my hope is that reports of increased turnout in red precincts are 1) true and 2) enough to cover absentee / early voting. We shall see.
I have grown to absolutely loathe "early voting." If one has a legitimate reason to miss election day, then yes, one should be able to request an absentee ballot. Otherwise, get off your butt and go to the polls on ELECTION DAY. Make it a federal holiday if need be. But it's a chilly, rainy, nasty day here in Fairfax County, and if THAT is all it takes to keep you from voting, then you should not get any other chance.

Yeah it’s been raining in Fairfax County all day. It didn’t seem too busy when I voted (around 3:00PM).

“move”, its time for layoffs of DC employees. Shrink the federal workforce! Let the unemployed democrats move back home with parents.
