Live Election Report From Virginia
Posted on 11/07/2017 10:38:40 AM PST by SarahPalin2012
I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.

Yes, it looks like the HOD will go from 66 Republicans to about 48 or a net loss of 18, with almost NO delegates from the mess that calls itself Northern Virginia. We need scrappers in the HOD, not go-along-to-get-along types. The GOP may wander in the wilderness for a period, but will come back stronger than ever. Ever hear of Trump?

Karl Rove was wrong yet again. He claimed it was “impossible” :-) ... yet this man will still collect a rather large paycheck being a miserable failure at what he does.

You are fighting against the tide. Denial just ain't a river in Egypt. VA is going down the toliet the same way CA has. The GOP base is dying off and the Dems are increasing in numbers thanks to mass immigration and the internal migration of those from the Northeast. So glad you're gone!

And while you are celebrating, toss in the loss of the House of Delegates. The get paid $17,000 yr and meet for 60 days a year on even years, 30 days on odd. Since the 17th amendment hasn't been repealed yet they do not elect VA Senators. We will survive. In four years we'll have better choices.

Pity some can't see that. Short-sightedness is such a horrible political weakness.

A lot of people in Virginia will not vote for those types. I’m not going to knock them. The Gop failed again. They ran an establishment candidate and he failed miserably. They ‘ll blame Trump. But it’s the Virginia Gop.

If that happens, the Rats will turn Virginia into California starting with nuking the relatively good gun laws in the state.I hope they don't bring back that one gun a month law. Back in 1993, I was only able to keep up for 8 months before I ran out of money.

Just saw an interesting
Tweet from Trump:
"Ed Gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what I stand for. Dont forget, Republicans won 4 out of 4 House seats, and with the economy doing record numbers, we will continue to win, even bigger than before!"

I agree; apparently some tech zillionaire poured one million dollars of his money from California into the HOD races; I really wonder if the Reps were caught flatfooted by it. While this is a wipeout (especially for HOD), I expect the Dems to overreact nationally (they always do) and they will do something stupid in response; they will be very cocky and cockiness always leads to disaster.

They’ll certainly try. Even with a small majority, I don’t think they’ll be successful in doing much damage in the short term.

The other thing about Gillespie - he was a top GW Bush advisor and the Dems ran very effective ads against him for being a Washington lobbyist who represented Enron.
