Live Election Report From Virginia

Posted on 11/07/2017 10:38:40 AM PST by SarahPalin2012

I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.

It has less to do with rigging and more to do with the rapidly changing demographics of VA. The same forces that turned CA blue and doing the same thing in VA. NC will be the next domino to fall. Demography is destiny. It is just a matter of numbers, not cheating.

I’d say that’s a good sign. A big sign.

I don't understand why all of the strategically crafty people are libs. We never learn.

Leftist politicians have fewer morals and scruples, and they'll do anything to win.

Yes of course. This is not a surprise. Thanks to the influx NoVa has become like Boston. this would be like watching a rat win in Massachusetts. NOt a shock.

Yes. And VA Beach is now breaking even where the Reps used to get big numbers. 20% of VA is black.

Gillespie barely beat Corey Stewart by less than a percent in the primaries. Conservatives won't turn out for RINO in the numbers he needs to win.

Thanks to NoVa this is the reality, and in one decade.

Our conservative Delegate is getting beaten by the anti-gun carpetbagger Democrat.

Does the NoVA crowd (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax county) really outnumber the SoVA group (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News)? Is so, by how much?

As I understand it, it's Southwest and South Central Virginia that is heavily Republican and pro-Trump.

Voting in the Southeast was closer.

According to Wikipedia, about a third of Virginia's population is part of Metro Washington.

And the GOPe never learn. The libs are never going for a lib-lite over the real hardcore party member, and the votes you need to fire up the other areas in VA outside of NoVa, isn’t gonna be a RINO.

That is not the reason VA is now a blue state. There are more of them than there are of us and the numbers are growing for them. Tonight's race will show how far gone VA is. IMO VA is gone like so many other states on both coasts.

Honestly guys, do NOT stress about this.
Revel in the fact the Dems have to try and spin this victory into something more than it is.
