Republican Ed Gillespie: A Reagan conservative tries to appeal and prevail in the age of Trump

When he was attending Catholic University of America, Ed Gillespie worked three jobs, one in a campus dining hall, one as a short-order cook and one parking cars at the U.S. Senate.
Through the job as a parking lot attendant, Gillespie learned of an internship opportunity that led to a job on Capitol Hill, and he has not stopped working in politics and public affairs since.
Gillespie, communications ace, former lobbyist and senior aide to President George W. Bush, will find out Tuesday if Virginia voters will send a Reagan conservative to the Virginia governors mansion in the era of Donald Trump.
Should Gillespie succeed, he would become the first Republican elected statewide in Virginia since Bob McDonnell led his partys sweep of statewide offices in 2009. He would likely have a GOP-controlled legislature to pass a broad agenda of bills he could sign into law.
Job creation, getting Virginia growing again, is central to my campaign, Gillespie said in an interview Thursday. I truly think we should be first in the country. ... Ive been talking about this from day one.
The race between Gillespie and Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam is considered close. Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 5.3 percentage points in Virginia in November, but with lower turnout expected in this years governors race, Gillespie has given hope to Republicans.
This is Gillespies second run for statewide office in Virginia, after narrowly losing to U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., in a low turnout 2014 election.

I guess you’re mad at Trump for tweeting in support of Gillespie too?

I guess youre mad at Trump for tweeting in support of Gillespie too? Let's see:
I'm critical of unbridled Gillespie cheerleaders; therefore I'm mad at Trump.
Boy, if that's not a logical fallacy, I don't know what is!

Guess I'm lucky I don't vote in VA. I guess the sad thing is that these days, politics doesn't attract many moral/ethical patriots but draws street scammers/grifters instead - Trump is one of the anomalies - as was Reagan. There might be a handful of actual patriot conservatives in the Congress but they are outnumbered.
Pretty sad we need to slowly replace rotten parts with slightly less rotten parts and it will take a long dedicated effort to get to the point where there is more healthy tissue than gangrene...

Ralph Northam is a mushmouth socialist pretending to be a RINO to keep Virginia blue (and not backing the blue).
I did not vote for ED in the primary but I will be voting for him today. He is the more conservative choice.

"Except eh GOPE turkeys never returns the favor and vote for our guy." I voted for Donald Trump in the general though he was not my first choice in the primary. My support for him has grown.
"You reminded me that I have to not vote today."
You forget, there are other candidates running today! "The only thing necessary for evil to succeed..."
