Papa John’s considering ending NFL sponsorship

Papa John’s is displeased enough with the NFL’s ratings and response to national anthem protests that they’re reconsidering their sponsorship of the league.

The company is re-evaluating its ad campaigns, according to Julie Jargon and Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal, and admitted that they will move their advertising dollars elsewhere if the league’s ratings decline — which the company blames on the protests — does not reverse itself.

“If the viewership decline continues, we will need to shift into things that work more effectively for us,” Papa John’s President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Ritchie said. “We are anxiously awaiting a solution to be created. That’s what will put the league in a positive place for the players, the fan base and the partners associated with them.”

Papa John’s has already started to pull some ad buys, though their assertion on the main cause of lower ratings would likely be disputed by many. It’s the first real sign that a major NFL sponsor is threatening to pull out of the association on account of the anthem issue.

If they pull out of their NFL sponsorship, it's pizza night at my house.

Papa John’s considering ending NFL sponsorship

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, also apparently owns over 100 Papa John's franchises. I'd imagine the public pressure Papa John's is now applying to the NFL and Roger Goodell is being orchestrated to some extent by Jones.

They have incredibly bad pizza, tho. Who in the hell serves garlic sauce with a jalapeño pepper on the side? TASTELESS pizza establishment, that’s who.

Jone and Peyton own franchises. Manning not taking sides. It’s either class or a future in politics.

We do too - in fact, the garlic butter and peppers are one of the reasons we buy it. Other companies are starting to include them now.

Maybe it’s not good to those who come from one of the great ‘pizza regions’, but not bad compared with others we can get by delivery.

Yes, I might decide to order one some time if they do. OTOH, if they stay with the NFL, they can keep heading on down.

Die, NFL. Die.

Sick of the thug world.

Just what has he done to earn your patronage? He has supported the NFL kneelers for over a year and is only upset now because it is hitting his bottom line. He couldn’t care less about the disrespect shown by the league and players. His company won’t even respond to emails criticizing his support for divisive anti-America conduct by NFL players. To hell with Pappa John’s, there will never be another pizza from his BLM supporting business in my house.

Considering they don't have shit for pizza in Wisconsin, perhaps Papa John's is the best you can get.

Here in Chiraq, when we aren't busy dodging bullets and keeping from getting murdered, we have the best pizza there is.

Papa John’s is also a big sponsor of NHRA Top Fuel drag racing.
They sponsor Leah Pritchett in Top Fuel.
IF Papa John’s doesn’t pull out of the NFL, it’s gonna spill over to NHRA Top Fuel.
NHRA fans are very pro-American and losing support in Top Fuel is the death knell to any driver/car. The smartest thing is for Papa John’s is to bail out on the NFL..ASAP.
Libs kill everything they touch.....everything. Including pizza.
They are fricken’ Borg of this century.

What do you guys think of Colin Cowherd's answer to Papa John's NFL criticism, that Papa Johns is in cahoots with Jerry Jones?

I like PJ pizza also. If they pull out of the NFL I will drive out of my way to buy their pizza instead of the competitors.
