Locked doors and trained and armed ushers, even though the odds of such happening at a given church are small, that seems like a reasonable precaution these days.

These are churches, not stinking prisons.

It's not a reasonable precaution. Especially in a small town like that.

We should not cave to fear and lock ourselves away to try to stay safe from nutjobs.

And, yes, I will continue to go to our non-secured against bad guys church and not worry.

My life is in God's hands, not the hands of some demonically possessed individual. They may be able to kill my body but not my spirit and soul. And then I'll be free forever.

It's not a matter of fear, but a matter of taking reasonable precautions. Most gatherings of people these days have some sort of security provided, whether by the police or private security. Churches could have security that would be practically unnoticeable unless it were needed some day.
