At least 16 people have been shot inside a Texas church after a gunman opened fire during the Sunday morning service.
The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports.
Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 10.30am.
Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times.
Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack.
According to KSAT, there were at least six helicopters called in to transport victims to the hospital.
It's unclear if anyone was fatally wounded in the attack.

Yes, it is horrendous. Many prayers for the victims and their friends and families.

...and the congressman (Gonzales) from that district has stated that to his knowledge the shooter was from outside the area.
Good. At least TX police know how to deal with that kind of situation.

It’s highly irresponsible for anyone to post photos or info when positive ID has not been released.
This guy’s aunt (yes, the one in the photo) was on FB a while ago saying that she is with him at the hospital trying to find out if his wife and children are alive.
If so, he’s a victim, not the perp, and certain FReepers should be ashamed.
