“...but for 80,000 people in three states, he would’ve lost.”

... and but for <80K people in three other states, HC loses MN (45K), NV (28K) and NH (3K), for a total of 20 EVs flipping to Trump. Heck, he could have lost WI, MI and PA, and then just taken either MN or NV and NH, and then he still wins anyway.

"Not only was Trump not supposed to win in 2016..."

Liberals continue to miss the underlying political dynamics that were in play during the last election - chief among them, the fact that it's difficult to impossible for either party to hold the White House more than two consecutive terms.

It's only been done once in the last six decades, when George HW Bush was elected to serve Reagan's third term. That was only possible because Reagan was such a successful and beloved president.

No such thing could be said of Obama, so Hillary faced gale force winds going in. Almost any respectable Republican could have beaten her, but Trump was much more than that - he was a force of nature, who roused a nationwide movement.

Trump was never in danger of losing to Hillary. He outmatched her in every single way, plus he had the 'pendulum effect' working in his favor.

There’s nothing like a having a nationwide public pity party to let your fellow Americans know how weak, childish and pathetic you are.

Like it or not they have over three years, or possibly seven years having Trump as the POTUS.

Even a two year old can only throw a Tantrum for a limited time before wearing himself out or being put to Bed by his fed up Parents.

It is going to be so much fun to watch the liberals fall apart over the next seven years.

He lives for division,

The author is a fool.

Trump is probably still a bit bemused by what the heck he is supposedly "dividing".

Apparently he is dividing America haters from what few brain cells they have but that was not his intention.

Remember, they stole NH with all the MAssholes that drove up and Registered the day of the Election saying they ad just moved there.

We also lost a Senate Seat because of it, albeit a RINO Senate Seat.

Yep.

Obama did nothing but divide and it was deliberate.

Trump is honestly trying to do the best he can for the USA as a whole. I don't agree with every thing he does or how he is doing it but he is really trying because he does love this country.

O-bummer on the other hand did not like the US at all.

Having Clinton constantly on TV a year later -- like some exiled monarch, still furious with the peasants that threw her out -- only reinforces the sense that the Democrats are less angry with Trump than they're angry with the voters.

That they are, and not just with the Trump voters, although "Trump voter" has become a three-syllable pejorative in certain liberal circles. Try asking a Hillary acolyte how she or he feels about the Bernie voters who went over to Jill Stein if you want to hear an entertaining rant.

The answer is that he did [win], so deal with it.

I can recall a feeling of disappointment when 0bama won but no one I know went into a year-long tantrum over it. This is crazy. Amusing, but nuts. The author suggests that one reasonable course of action might be to find out why the opposition voted the way they did:

Meanwhile, Trump, the outsider, managed to identify the concerns of powerful constituencies in the heartland: rising crime, bad infrastructure, war and job loss...

...which is, after all, what politicians are supposed to do. "You're a moron for voting for Trump" doesn't advance this process of self-education very far. When the Dems begin to figure out how they let a billionaire New York real estate developer take up the mantle of Friend Of The Working Class they might be onto something; when they understand that he actually is, they'll be onto something more. That won't happen by baying at the moon.

Yes I remember that. Maybe we should take a page from the lefties and stage a traffic blocking protest on election day on all major routes from MA to NH ... or just have some of our cars “stall” on those roads.

>>>> ..... not only backward-looking but an insult to the voters who made the rational decision to switch to Donald Trump. <<<<

Right, after I read that on CNN Opinion page, then the “Editor’s note” upfront telling readers this guy IS NOT one of theirs.

Can’t stop burst out laughing.

Overall a reasonable and enjoyable read, even if the author can’t help himself with the liberal jabs at Trump himself.
