(CNN)The White House has struck back at both Bush presidents Saturday after the two made stinging comments about President Donald Trump in a new book about the father and son.
"If one presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had," a White House official told CNN. "And that begins with the Iraq war, one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes in American history."
"President Trump remains focused on keeping his promises to the American people by bringing back jobs, promoting an 'America First' foreign policy and standing up for the forgotten men and women of our great county," the official said.
Former President George H.W. Bush delivered a blunt assessment of Trump in historian Mark Updegrove's new book, titled "The Last Republicans," saying, "He's a blowhard." And former President George W. Bush also had harsh words for his Republican successor: "This guy doesn't know what it means to be president."

How about the false flag terror attacks staged under the Bushes? When are the guilty going to be punished?
The Bushes are now openly showing their arrogant political duopoly colors. If they couldn’t have a repeat of their family political dynasty, they preferred the other half their political duopoly, Billary, Inc..
Souter wasn’t a mistake or an accident.
Souter was Iinstalled to edge the United States towards the New World Order.
Look at George the Elder's biography. There's no reason to believe he wasn't already CIA by that time.
It's time for us to start taking a look at George the Elder's biography. There's a lot to wonder about. It's fair game, now that we know he voted for hillary.
Well said.
Not to mention the deep state plan to rig the 2016 election.
The entire political elite establishment in this country is corrupted to the core......hang them all!
GHW “adopted” BJ Clinton long before senility set in.
It's a euphemism.
I’ve said this so many times before, pardon if I’m redundant, but I cannot believe how many people Trump has “outed” that we basically once trusted ... the list is staggering. (I’m including folks like Levin, Krauthammer, Krystal, M Kelly, and on and on ...Now we add the Bush’s to the list)
Yes. A lot of us were.
A lot of us did our damndest to warn about GWB and the direction that he was taking America. About the precedents he was setting which WOULD be exploited and abused by his successor. About the irreparable damage that a war with Iraq would inflict on our own country. About "compassionate conservatism" that was just code speak for more socialism. About his cronyism. About things which would take too long to list on a Sunday morning before church.
We WARNED on this forum and others, with all due passion and sincerity and humbleness per the weight of our convictions. And for it we were branded as anti-Christian, anti-American, pro-Democrat, "liberals", and worse. We were consistently told that we "didn't know any better" and that we didn't trust Bush enough and his alleged "genius".
History has proven that we were right and that many of us should have been considered in our words. Because there was all the prescience in the world embedded in those words.
And a lot of people are now owed a damned big apology for how they were treated by the Bush-worshipers.
That means a lot - coming from Mr. “Read my lips, no new taxes”.....The guy was a cuckold for the Dem Party and his boys didn’t fall far from under that Bush....
If you ain’t for open borders and one world government then the Bushes don’t like you. If the Bushes don’t like you then you’re doing something right.
Maybe that would get the ball rolling on investigations into those escapades.
They have revealed that they are little better than the Clintons. They just cover it up better.
Bush voted for a loser. Just like his loss.
Well, it was all of what you say and then some. Trump not only disrespected the younger and weakest by far Bush but X Presidents expect a certain deference from Presidential Candidates. Instead, Trump held the Bush’s in utter contempt and let the whole world know it.
Bottom line, these three men really hate each other! So, it’s more PERSONAL than POLITICAL.
Ultimately the Bush legacy is the loser because a lot of people like me, who had all these years carried a certain amount of respect for the Bush’s................have now lost ALL, or nearly all, respect.
I can't really say what I think...
