Securing North Korean nuclear sites would require a ground invasion, Pentagon says
The Washington Post ^ | November 4, 2017 | Dan Lamothe and Carol Morello

The only way to locate and secure all of North Korea’s nuclear weapons sites “with complete certainty” is through an invasion of U.S. ground forces, and in the event of conflict, Pyongyang could use biological and chemical weapons, the Pentagon told lawmakers in a new, blunt assessment of what war on the Korean Peninsula might look like.

*snip*

The letter also said that Pentagon leaders “assess that North Korea may consider the use of biological weapons” and that the country “has a long-standing chemical weapons program with the capability to produce nerve, blister, blood and choking agents.”

The Pentagon repeated that a detailed discussion of how the United States would respond to the threat could not be discussed in public.

That won’t happen. We are not capable of mounting such an invasion. The loss of American lives would not be acceptable.

I agree. We wouldn’t waste American blood for a ground war in NK. Now bombing is another matter...

“Now bombing is another matter”.........

Bombing NK would not be acceptable either since millions of innocent people would certainly die. Which in turn would turn the world against the US even further. There is no winners in the potential war with NK unless removing Little Fat Boy would do the trick. Now THAT may be what turns the tide completely.

WAPO <—> CIA Sock Puppet

Proposal for ground invasion anywhere <—> Petraeus

Petraeus is point man for US Senate Armed Services Committee. All defense contractors get paid through this committee. Ergo, Petraeus is Chief War Marketing Director. His job is to get the money and bring it to the war machine.

McCain is his contact on the committee. The two are always working to send American military personnel and hardware assets into theaters of opportunity. These two are constantly selling war in some fashion, always looking for a sales angle, a way of inciting the public to believe their cause, etc.

Petraeus is/was mentor for McMaster. Reports say Trump hates McMaster. McCain hates Trump. Very wise of the President to get Generals Mattis and Kelly to serve at his side. I think we are in good hands as long as our President can keep McCain penned up along with Petraeus.

Good. Tell China to get busy doing it.

I agree. I think outside the box though.

Why did Xi consolidate so much power in his hands? I think something is afoot there. What if Trump gets US GDP growth up to 6 or 7%? I think there was some serious horse trading going on at Mar A Lago. I am not saying that China will handle the ground invasion, but what if they did? I am not saying Trump will go easier in China trade negotiations but with GDP growth in that range he could.

If China invades it becomes a 2 front war for the NORKS. They would be royally F’d. In addition I don’t think South Korea could assimilate the NORKS easily. Too much $$$. What if Trump offered Xi the opportunity to clean out the rats nest on their southern border and acquiesced that they would become a Chinese protectorate. All that cheap labor and natural resources and direct rail to South Korea.

I would be curious to know the hegemonic interests of the people Xi replaced with himself. Anyone know?

It is just a thought.

yep, one cruise missile would eliminate the problem.

Follow up cruise missiles should drop leaflets informing the people the tyrant is dead, and they are now free. Also let them know their brothers and cousins in the south will be air dropping pallets of food for the starving people.

Nork soldiers are advised their enforced military service is finished and they can all go home to help their families.

.
Unlikely that there is a shred of truth in this fake news extravaganza.

The US has had the capability to disable even the most hardened nuclear launch site for decades.

That is a large part of the reason for the collapse of the Soviet Union. They knew that their missiles were useless against what the Reagan admin had created.

North Korea is incapable of mounting and maintaining a ground war. They don’t have the supplies nor the logistics to do so.

They would be out of food and fuel within a week.

In other words, we need to decisively win the original war?

What North Korea might be today if we had!

Our collective ignorance dooms us.

China is the problem, China is the answer. Xi will do nothing to disarm the Norks without gain for China. What are the bargaining chips? Taiwan? US troops out of South Korea? Will Trump, the master of the art, be willing to make such a deal to avoid WW3 ?

1,000 airplanes launching thousands of missiles at once. I suspect they would take out all the artillery sites and Kim at the same time.
