For starters, he was appointed in violation of the law for special counsels, which requires evidence of a crime. There was no crime they were hired to investigate, it was a national security investigation

Seems to me that he has an open investigation into "INDICTING TRUMP" despite these conflicting opinions/facts.

Mueller can't indict Trump. He might charge him as an unindicted co-conspirator (as was done to Nixon) on some specious charge (after consulting with the best legal minds in Congress--Maxine Waters, Frederica Wilson, Brad Sherman, Al Green and Steve Cohen). Then Paul Ryan can tell the House Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment proceedings.

The problem with this scenario is that whatever Mueller finds as "high crimes and misdemeanors" will be so flimsy (firing Comey equals obstruction of justice?) that it will be hard to get enough Congressmen and Senators to commit political suicide to impeach and convict Trump.

Unfortunately when the swamp realizes that they may decide on a more lethal course of action to get rid of Trump.

I wonder if Mueller has a portrait of Joseph Stalin in his office. He is following Stalin’s maxim: “Give me the man and I will find the crime.”

You may be correct. Whether a sitting POTUS can be indicted is an open question.

I do not think the Reps in Congress will impeach, unless they think the evidence is crap and they want that fact known to the public by way of a Senate trial.

One more thought. Mueller may indict and force Trump to file a motion to dismiss, which will be denied by the Dem trial judge, who will be affirmed by the Dem majority in the DC Cir.

Then it will be up to the Supreme Court.

Were Trump to be indicted, I think it will be for a financial crime pre-dating his election, thus complicating the legal issue you raise.

That’s exactly what he is doing, going after Trump underlings on anything they have ever done so that they will roll over and say something about Trump. It doesn’t have to be about Russia, Mueller knows Trump didn’t do anything illegal with Russia, he just wants something he can use to justify impeachment. Taxes, false statements, bribery, not using a low flow toilet, whatever.
