At least three former and one current California congresswomen have come forward alleging sexual harassment and groping from colleagues, adding to the growing list of women coming out against powerful men.
Former California Sen. Barbara Boxer described an incident where a male colleague made a sexually suggestive comment about her from the dais at a hearing in the 1980s, which was met with general laughter and an approving second from the committee chairman.
"This is about power,'" Boxer said. That was an example of the way I think we were thought of, a lot of us. ... It's hostile and embarrasses, and therefore could take away a person's power,'' she said.
For years, Republican Rep. Mary Bono endured increasingly suggestive comments from a fellow lawmaker in the House of Representatives. But when the congressman approached her on the House floor and told her he'd been thinking about her in the shower, she'd had enough.
Ha! But she is healthy enough to escape if she wanted to!
I find all this highly unlikely. Now if these were male pages making accusations...
I think they're trying to capitalize on Weinstein. In any case, it's getting pretty silly. So, THIRTY years ago, a colleague of Barbara Boxer's supposedly made a rude comment to her in front of a room full of people and everyone laughed? OK...that's comparable to rape?
If every man is a harasser and every woman is a victim...there's really nothing more to talk about...so can we just stop talking about this stuff?
It was a mistake for states — New York is one of them, I believe — to do away with statutes of limitations when it comes to sexual crimes. (One exception: when rape is reported and there's DNA that's logged, but no suspect to arrest. If the suspect is arrested later and his DNA matches, the statute of limitations shouldn't apply.)
I'm going to get my head bitten off for this, but reading about how Kevin Spacey supposedly scooped up some teenager thirty years ago, I can't help wonder what the point is in hashing this out today. There are criminal and civil courts. If this guy was silent all these years, what's the point in speaking out now? And that woman who wrote about gross things Dustin Hoffman SAID to her THIRTY years ago, when she was 17? Is that really fair to write about today?
Not bloody likely
Wrong! There’s this lib saying something like “The severity of the charge is proof enough”.
Regarding Boxer...as I always suspected.
Fixed it.
hahahahahahahahahaha
ha.
Nobody sexually harrassed her. Has she seen herself? Bad, crazy lady. Go back to your crate.
That was an ugly baby and it never got any better.
I’m waiting to hear from Rosie O’Donnell.
Rosie may have her own ‘Spacey’ stories to tell.
some might say that barbara boxer is the human version of saltpeter
So who was it? Everyone else is naming names.
Somebody told her to go f*** herself and she thought they were coming on to her!
Rosa DeLauro is more likely to fit the bill. She makes Ruth Buzzi look like a young Brooke Shields.
distraction from real crimes.
If these women would just stay in the kitchen making sandwiches and babies, they wouldn’t have to deal with all of this stuff. The real world can be quite unfriendly.
Lol have not heard that for awhile must be over 65 or read it somewhere
Bullshit
She’s dogfood ugly
