Lawmakers to Trump: Leave Mueller alone

Democrats — and a few Republicans — in Congress have a clear message for President Donald Trump: Don’t mess with Robert Mueller.

Concerned that the president may fight back after Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling led to two indictments and a guilty plea for his former advisers Monday, top Democrats laid down a marker for the president, who earlier in the year criticized Mueller and the probe. […]

Republicans were less explicit, but many sent a similar message.

”I don’t think anybody in their right mind at the White House would think about replacing Mr. Mueller unless there was a very good reason,” said South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican who has been both a critic and a friend to Trump over the last year.

Republican Sen. Bob Corker, a Trump critic, said he “can’t even imagine” that Trump would fire Mueller. …

“And if “Uranium One” is real? And Mueller was director of the FBI that KNEW about the crimes”

Obama was god at the time, so it was all good.

Any GOPe that goes after Trump will go the way of flake and corker. Lady Lindsey won’t cross Trump if Mueller steps out of line.

Why mess with Mueller? He’s not doing any harm to Trump. This first indictment proves there is nothing to the Trump Russia collusion.

Mueller can dig until his hands are numb but he wont find anything. How do I know this? Because if Trump had any crimes in his past, Lynch & Co. would have found them last year when they controlled the ENTIRE Justice Dept.

If the Right truly wants to embarrass Mueller they should appoint a special prosecutor to look into the Clinton crime spree. There is so much crime there that a novice prosecutor could file an indictment every day for a year & still not scratch the surface.

So, while Mueller files his puny tax evasion charges against unknowns like Manafort & Gates, a Clinton prosecutor would be filing treason charges, among other very serious charges, against a former President & a former Secretary of State. I doubt even CNN could avoid covering such huge news. Mueller would then fall into the category of “other news” on page 47, where he belongs.

Sol Wachtler, the former chief judge of New York state, coined the term in a January 1985 interview with the New York Daily News' Marcia Kramer and Frank Lombardi. The relevant bit: In a bid to make prosecutors more accountable for their actions, Chief Judge Sol Wachtler has proposed that the state scrap the grand jury system of bringing criminal indictments. Wachtler, who became the state's top judge earlier this month, said district attorneys now have so much influence on grand juries that "by and large" they could get them to "indict a ham sandwich."
